Default If you could pick any five...

heyyyy everyone. I have a quick question...but I'm sure that this will make a pretty good conversation . I am about to buy my first projector and screen. Placing it all in it's own dedicated home theater room. And for the room i want the screen at the front and the posters on each side wall. The length walls. I already have an original shawshank poster 27x4O. But i need five more of the same size. My question to you is...if you had to pick five posters of that size to place on your walls...framed and looking all nice...which would they be and why??

I would go with a theme to keep it classy:

Things I've considered:

1) Black and White "Classic film sex symbols" Like Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Catherine Deneuvre etc....

2) A grouping of these:

There are 5 or 6 of them, so it'd be a nice theme.....

3) I've looked at various Beatles "Yellow Submarine" posters too....

I ended up going with B&W Ansel Adams prints.

Good luck.

EDIT:

Overall, I think a "Theme" looks better thought out than mix-and-match stuff thrown up.

EDIT AGAIN:

I also think either various foreign film posters would be cool, or the same movie poster from 5-6 different countries would be cool (but you'd have to really like that film I guess!)

One guy on here has an all horror film theme. I forget who it is. But he has like Friday the thirteenth. Trick or treat. The mist. The fog. Etc. It looks pretty badass.

I like the Ralph steadman theme. There are a few prints on his website that I really want, but can't rationalize the cost at the moment.

You can't go wrong with a horror theme I am not a big fan of the other people's suggestions though.....I think movie posters should actually look like movie posters but that's just me..... Here are some of my posters..... I actually have 2 home made Light Boxes in my Theater along with several 24 x 36 posters.

Here is a video of my Light Boxes

Yup there ya go. That was the theater I was referring to. It is probably in my top 3 on this whole site. What is your name? It just seems so damn cozy down there! I bet you think about it during the day when you are at work lmao. How often do you watch a film on that screen during the week?

Thanks for the kinds words I watch between 3-4 movies a week down there. Every Saturday night we (Me, My Wife and my 7 year old Daughter) watch a 3-D movie and the rest of the week i usually watch 2-3 2-D movies myself. I am trying to watch all the ones that i have not seen yet. It is a great place to watch a movie and the sound system even though it's not top of the line is incredible and the Bass Shakers add a lot to the movies....I may not have the prettiest of rooms but this used to be a moldy old storage room...Here is a quick video tour. Dave

It would share a common theme between all of your posters since you already have a Shawshank Redemption poster, but if you just want posters of awesome movies, imo, i would get these ones:
[Show spoiler]

All I have to say is there are way too many posters to decide from, so honestly just pick posters that are from your favourite movies.

Definitely want a Gladiator movie poster AC. I also love that return of the king poster. Where is the best price on these?

Depends if you want the best quality, which would mean originals. Gladiator isn't cheap and unfortunately most sought after titles aren't cheap either. Best quality is double sided originals. We have a great poster thread in this sub forum where you can check out others poster collections and how they've hung them and where they buy them. We have a local poster here who sells them as his business and he is always worth PM'ing to check prices on. movieposter.com is a great website that I've purchased from numerous times. Then a little more risky is EBay, but you can get good deals there for sure. When it comes to the reprint route I can't help you a whole lot there, no doubt there are lot of sites out there selling reprints (movieposter.com being one of them, but at least they are up front on what is a reprint and what is original) I just don't buy from them.

I found all the images off of movieposter.com. If I can remember correctly they all were reprints between 15$-30$ and around the size you wanted +/- 1.5". (Some where 26.5 x 38.5, or something like that)

Pick movies you liked the most from the past 5 decades - one per decade.

Ok, well then I wouldn't have five. I would have one - a metal frame that lets you 'snap' in posters. And then I'd swap posters in throughout the year when I got bored of the current one. I have too many movie posters to list here...

I bought two of those and they're on each of my walls in my apartment. It's great. Right now I have Gladiator and Alien
