Just loaded DISC 1 on my PS3, I get the loading clock in the top right, then the PLAY icon (bottom left).
Now it's just frozen(Black Screen) on Title 49. Can't FF, skip, etc. Anyone else having a similar problem. Running on Old-School PS3 with latest firmware. Did the whole STOP,EJECT,REINSERT,PLAY and let it run and it finally came on. Funny since I watched UP prior to this and had no problem, considering the BD-Live servers get hammered on big release day. Anyway, it started right up this morning. I also had that issue and i also have the old ps3 i ejected the disc and reinsurted it it did the same thing so i just waited and finally that depending on your firmware a black screen message poped up and it started playing. The movie is even better on blu!!!

I don't even get an onscreen clock: I put the disc into my player (Panasonic DMP-BD50), press PLAY... and it's now been over 20 minutes with a black screen while it tries to load network data.
Turning off the network connection allows the disc to load in a couple of minutes, but then it tries to make network connections during the film -- the first time at the end of the opening credits -- and this puts an error message up on the screen each time, blocking out the centre of the image. So it's not really a usable workaround for me. And now... hatcha! After 22 minutes, I get a warning screen saying that I may experience delays of 2-3 minutes. :-) |

This seems to be a recurrent problems with some BD-live titles on release day. It appears that all the excited purchasers who try to play the disc on release day tend to overload the servers. I don't know if that is the case here, but it seems to be a frequent issue.

Since there aren't any other threads about this, I would clean it and test it again. If it still doesn't work take it back and exchange it for another copy.
Firmware up to date on your PS3? |

Should be, updated I'll double check for sure. Sucks I'm the first one to encounter this problem.

Just unplug the Ethernet cable from the back of your PS3. After that try playing the Blu. It should work then.

As for the timing, yes, it was a bit slow on my PS3 40gb to load as well. I don't know if I "kick-started" it or if it was just timing, but I finally hit Play again and it started up. I'm sure it's BD-Live. While I like having the extra feature, I rarely use it. I wish they'd create some settings so you can have it disabled until you select the option, rather than being completely on or off. |
