Default Monsters Inc. Not Playing

Just loaded DISC 1 on my PS3, I get the loading clock in the top right, then the PLAY icon (bottom left).

Now it's just frozen(Black Screen) on Title 49.

Can't FF, skip, etc.

Anyone else having a similar problem.

Running on Old-School PS3 with latest firmware.

Did the whole STOP,EJECT,REINSERT,PLAY and let it run and it finally came on.

Funny since I watched UP prior to this and had no problem, considering the BD-Live servers get hammered on big release day.

Anyway, it started right up this morning.

Turn off the BD-Live feature, that may do the trick.

Mine took a few mins to boot up as well. More than likely the BD Live like Wolverine said.

I also had that issue and i also have the old ps3 i ejected the disc and reinsurted it it did the same thing so i just waited and finally that depending on your firmware a black screen message poped up and it started playing. The movie is even better on blu!!!

Default *sigh*

I don't even get an onscreen clock: I put the disc into my player (Panasonic DMP-BD50), press PLAY... and it's now been over 20 minutes with a black screen while it tries to load network data.

Turning off the network connection allows the disc to load in a couple of minutes, but then it tries to make network connections during the film -- the first time at the end of the opening credits -- and this puts an error message up on the screen each time, blocking out the centre of the image. So it's not really a usable workaround for me.

And now... hatcha! After 22 minutes, I get a warning screen saying that I may experience delays of 2-3 minutes. :-)

This seems to be a recurrent problems with some BD-live titles on release day. It appears that all the excited purchasers who try to play the disc on release day tend to overload the servers. I don't know if that is the case here, but it seems to be a frequent issue.

When I put in Monsters Inc. (Region A Taiwan) my PS3 wouldn't play it either. It asked me to update, I did and then it was fine.

I'd just update the PS3 if I were you.

Mine took about 3 minutes to get to the "This may take 3-5 minutes to work" screen then everything went smoothly from that point forward.

Since there aren't any other threads about this, I would clean it and test it again. If it still doesn't work take it back and exchange it for another copy.

Firmware up to date on your PS3?

Should be, updated I'll double check for sure. Sucks I'm the first one to encounter this problem.

Try disconnecting your internet connection from your PS3. That has become a common problem among members on here with the PS3, and doing this worked for them.

Okay everything is up to date, and I restarted it still no success, but the clock thing comes on. How do you exactly keep the internet off? I signed out and tired but it didn't work.

Just unplug the Ethernet cable from the back of your PS3. After that try playing the Blu. It should work then.

It's wifi lol but I just had to wait for it to load. It's funny, you would expect that they fix that and no bloopers? They took those out.

You've posted now in two threads this incorrect statement. It's on the second disc. The original release did not have them in the credits- it was added later. You might want to try exploring the whole package before dismissing it for missing special features. These kind of things can take off like wildfire on forums.

As for the timing, yes, it was a bit slow on my PS3 40gb to load as well. I don't know if I "kick-started" it or if it was just timing, but I finally hit Play again and it started up. I'm sure it's BD-Live. While I like having the extra feature, I rarely use it. I wish they'd create some settings so you can have it disabled until you select the option, rather than being completely on or off.

I did do a bit exploring mind you. I didn't watch exactly every feature but I did watch most of the features. Maybe I missed it.
