I suppose what I'm really asking is how quickly does your collection grow.
Personally I lurk in the deals forum every chance I get and have a hard time saying no to deals where I can get a movie I want to own or even just watch when they are under the $10 mark. I'm fortunate to have a store that deals in new and used blus and offers a generous trade in deal so even when I don't feel a movie has much rewatch value I can usually trade it in for more then I paid for it. So my collection tends to grow pretty fast. While there was a period of like 6-8 weeks where I only bought like 4 new blus I'd guesstimate that I acquire around 25 a month and trade in around ten of those resulting in a net gain of about 15 a month. So my collection has grown by about 90 so far this year and I'd expect with the Christmas season at the end of the year my purchases will tick up some and I'll acquire around 115 more. Even with all the movies that haven't even been released on blu I wouldn't think I'd keep up this pace in future years but there is a steady stream of things being released that I look for at each sale and ones I expect to see hitting my price points in the holiday season. So that's my answer what's yours? |

I'd say about 400-500, plus around 100 on pre-order. I'm also expanding my steelbook collection, so maybe another 50 of those before the year is out.
September and October are very very expensive months, i expect many others on here feel the same. Bond Box Set, Titanic Limited, Harry Potter Set and a few other big releases. Ouch !!! |

In february I had around 30 and now I'm up to 102, I wasn't planning on my collection growing that fast, I only wanted to buy films I really like. But then I got on ebay and would bid on multiple items to get a better deal so I've ended up with a few that aren't great, but I've cooled down down and I'm back to only getting the films I really want which there seem to be alot of coming out in august through november

I've added 25 Blu-rays to my collection so far this year, and I probably will get about 20 more by the end of the year.
I got 38 Blu-rays in 2011, so it looks like I am already on track to get more than that this year! |

I've bought about 10 Blu-rays this year, but have sold most of them after seeing them. I only keep the ones that really stand out for me. And yes, I just sold Kill Bill.
![]() I probably will not buy any more. For me personally, it's a money pit considering I sell them a few days after watching them, unless I feel they're good enough to keep (re-play value, etc.). There are no rental stores around me (they all closed), and I dislike streaming through a third party provider (Netflix, Hulu, etc.), and my cable box is not hooked up to surround...so the only solution if I want to see a Blu-ray I may possibly keep is to buy one. I do not know how many I have purchased. I do not know how many I will purchase before the year is over. (probably about 75) I currently have 199 titles (several are collections) listed on my pricetracker. Eventually the prices will drop to my price and then I will purchase. I have learned to be patient. Look at the current price of the Alien collection.. it is 28.96. I paid much more than that... but I have learned that if you wait, you can save lots of money. My target price is always at least 50 percent off. Pricetracker is your friend.
