Default After Indiana Jones, what will be the next big catalog remaster?

After Idiana Jones, what will be the next big catalog remaster?

Has it all been done? Jurassik park was just announced, Star Wars is coming soon, Lord of the Rings Extended out today, Jaws is coming soon, what else is there? Blade? Smokey and the Bandit? Dragonheart?

There are still some big ones out there...

Lawrence of Arabia
Chinatown
Titanic
Schindler's List

Go a little deeper in the catalogs and there's a lot of Billy Wilder and Hitchcock left and you can't start an MGM thread without people moaning about the Bond titles that still haven't been released.

Oh, and Universal's classic creature franchises wouldn't be Star Wars/Indy big but they'd definitelty make a pretty big splash. They might not be at the top of too many wishlists but being somewhere in the middle of a zillion wishlists can be pretty good too.

"Lawrence of Arabia" but in general I think the catalog releases most are waiting for a TV shows now.

- Twin Peaks
- The Sopranos
- Six Feet Under
- Star Trek: The Next Generation
- The Wire

And less popular but important to me:

- Carnivale
- Babylon 5
- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
- Star Trek: Enterprise
- Farscape
- In Treatment

Most of the "Hitchcock" collection isn't out on Bluray yet. So I would go with that...

I keep wondering why they are holding out on E.T.?

They would make BANK with E.T. on bluray.

I personally think we'll see Star Trek remastered double dips brought out to tie in to the next film's release. I think Paramount will likely double dip on remasters of the Mission: Impossible films also as their original releases are not up to scratch. We've still got the rest of the Bond franchise to come out also. The shelved Terminator re-release will presumably come some time now that MGM has their situation shorted. In addition to that, yes, there are still a bunch of tentpole and second tier franchise and single titles to come. Some that others haven't mentioned include:

E.T.
The Right Stuff
Blade Trilogy
Ghostbusters II

I am also looking forward to Dead Poets Society, Sneakers, The Ring, The Village and a bunch of Hitchcock films. I also would like to see some more HBO series like Six Feet Under and quality shows like The West Wing. Star Trek: TNG is already on the cards - being a Trek fan I'd love the rest though I'm not exactly pinning my hopes on it happening for all the series just yet.

Having said all that, we certainly have seen a large bulk of the major catalogue titles released as well as franchises. Although it may not be as exciting for us the good news is that it means there are plenty of titles out there. That means people will be more motivated to swap to Blu-ray because films they want are available and due to many having been out in the market for a while prices are now dropping significantly.

Jaws remains #1 on my most wanted list. But I'd also like to see the Universal Classic Monsters, more Hitchcock, all the Hammer Horror films, etc.

There's plenty more catalog they could release. And not just the big A list titles. I'd love to have Scorsese's Cape Fear, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Breakdown (Kurt Russell), and other titles along those lines. I know Mr. Ripley was announced overseas, but I will wait for a US version.

Blade Trilogy
The Great Escape
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
Lethal Weapon series (which is coming soon to region 1)
The Poseidon Adventure (1972)
Scent of a Woman
Star Trek I & II: Director Cuts + Next Gen season sets
Supergirl
Tombstone (the rumored Kurt Russell version) - bare w/me on that statement I may be wrong on that KR version.

and It will not surprise me if the "Very Magical Edition" of all 8 Potter films gets a massive box set with Hogwarts castle packaging, like they did for the DVD's.

and dare I say the unaltered Star Wars trilogy.

Actually for me, after Indy Jones(JUST the first film) gets released along with Jaws Im pretty content with catalog releases.

Id like to get Lawrence of Arabia as well but much of what other people are listing arent must-haves for most of us. They are just peoples personal favs. Thats fine - we all have some, but as far as truly admired blockbusters, there arent many left at all.

Schindlers List? Who cares? Supergirl? C'mon folks....I have guilty pleasures too but geesh.

I would gather to say since it is #8 on AFI's 100 greatest list, Best Picture, Best Director and a four star film from every major critic I have seen that it's safe to assume that it is a major release and not a "who cares". Maybe it's not your cup of tea but seeing how it is considerd by many to be the greatest film of the 1990's I would say you might be in the minority.

Titantic, ET, and Nemo come to mind. Some of the others mentioned HAVE been released already, though they may not be perfect, I don't count. I think this thread should be dedicated to NEVER been released titles, not remasters.
JMO

Some others (not all blockbusters):

The Santa Clause (all we have now is #3 and it's the least favorite)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (and the others in a box set)
Cleopatra
Fantastic Voyage
The Poseidon Adventure

other than those pointed out... my guilty pleasure is a little known goody called DRIVE. with Mark Dacascos Kadeem Hardison and the late Brittany Murphy... some ridiculous fighting stunts but a hog of a movie...

other than that? The Ring, The Original Ju-On: The Grudge, and the rest of Disney's Classics...

More:

Chariots of Fire
Howard the Duck
Bill & Ted's Excellent movies
Driving Miss Daisy
Other Elvis movies
Lots of older Disney movies

This is just a few more I thought of, but I don't think I'd add any of them to my collection, lol.

Well, next year's the 30th anniversary, so I think we more than likely see it sometime next year. Universal seems to be releasing a lot of catalog title lately, just look at the next couple of weeks. I'm hoping next year they can get a lot of the good Spielberg stuff out - E.T., Jaws and Indy (from Paramount) would be a nice lineup, especially when you add Jurassic Park in October. I'm also hoping for at least one of the recent/ DreamWorks- era Spielberg titles (Catch Me If You Can would be great) in the coming months (early 2012 at the latest).

But on the subject of what would be the big catalog releases, I'm wanting to see a major push from Disney with their catalog. It annoys me how they'll do two or three titles in the span of a month or two, then go another six months with nothing. They need to get at least one animation title and maybe two live action titles out each month if they want to get their catalog out there in a resonable amount of time.
