Default Amazon Prices skyrocketing?

Anyone else notice this for amazon blu rays? Many items that have been in my cart a while are well over the 12 dollar mark now and previously have never been past 9.99

Ummm, just like other retailers, prices change from time to time. It is temporary, not permanent. I wouldn't say the prices have been skyrocketing. If there is a certain title you want and wish it was cheaper, I suggest using the price tracker on this site to notify you when it reaches your desired price.

I don't like to pay full price either for bds.
used discs are the best option on amazon, and of course craigslist.
you should check fry's also they had pretty awesome deals on blurays.

Prices fluctuate. ALWAYS have. My advice, when you put something in your basket, buy it. If not, then it probably won't be the same price the next day.

ive noticed amazon hasnt been as liberal with their pricing for a while now. Theyre not as quick to price match other sites deals. Probably because they have a lot of retailers on the ropes now and have pretty much fully established themselves.

Huh? I see Amazon price matching all the time. lol Every week when a new release comes out, I see Amazon price matching places like Best Buy, Target, Frys, etc. They've even price matched some Walmart.com prices lately. Sure, sometimes it takes until Sunday for Amazon to finally price match, but new ads don't start until Sundays anyway. Also, if it is a new release, it won't be released until Tuesday anyway.

Been waiting for a price drop for a couple of months on a specific blu, and Amazon finally lowered the price to my liking.
Ordered!

I use to have alot of BDs in Amazons cart. The UK Amazon often lowers them while the US Amazon usually adjusts the price up. Nowadays I use to buy US BDs from other online retailers because they usually are more affordable than Amacon.com.

It's called...Inflation. When the value of the dollar goes down, you have to pay more for goods. Throw in higher energy & fuel cost tied to transportation along with costs to ship....pennys, nickels & dimes add up.

Generalities like this crack me up as they are spouted as almost a unquestioned "truth". As an answer to the concerns above they are actually laughable. The dollar has continued to strengthen due to economic issues of Europe, oil and gas have dropped dramatically. Amazon has some of the worlds best tech with a small relative work force (low labor cost). Employment has been poor and job gains have been in temporary staff positions (no wage or a negative wage inflation). Please don't rattle off statements to look cool. (especially this one!)

If you think it's bad now just wait until when (if) Best Buy stops selling BDs. Amazon will not have to match BBs decent deals anymore....

Patience is your best weapon. If you wait several months after the initial BD release you can get new releases for $15 or less and catalogs for $10 or less.

Click the your region in the search bar at the top of the page, make sure the Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray or DVD tab is selected. Enter your title in the search bar then select your title. Underneath the cover and Add to Collection is Set Price Tracking.

Enter your desired price and margins (plus or minus from your desired price 0 to disable), select how long you'd like to track your title then click Track.

Unless you've disabled the option you'll get an email when the price falls into your desired price range.
