Thumbs up DARR (1993) BluRay from YRF

watched it again. I have been repeating few of the old BRD titles, to see how my new Onkyo AVR will handle it.

I am surprise there is no thread for such a crisp catalog YRFs title.

First of all, I believe there is a huge mistake on IMDB and here in labeling DARR in terms of OAR.

The true aspect ratio is 2.35:1 as listed by YRFs on BluRay and not 2.20:1. As you watch it on TV, you feel its more closer to 2.40:1 than 2.20:1 70mm aspect ratio. There is an error here.

The PQ is excellent for a 22 yrs old Film. It is slightly better than GHULAM T-series BRD release. Definitely much much better than DDLJ YRF BRD release. This maybe the best 90s BluRay taking both PQ and AQ into account.

The DARR stereo OST re-mix into TrueHD and DTS MA are as good as they can get. They are not at the level of GHULAM DTS MA mix but definitely 1/2 / .

It is unfair to compare GHULAM (1998) DTS MA to DARR (1993) as the former for originally has DTS sound mix.

For the future , YRFs should seriously think about releasing DARR as their very first 4K UHD BRD release. Looking at the prestine PQ and AQ presentation in BRD, this is primed to benefit the most with HDR and Dolby Atmos mix.

I also forgot to mention, I compared DARR OAR to CLEOPATRA OAR.

The latter is legit 70mm release (MGM 70mm camera) on BRD with proper 2.20:1 Original Aspect Ratio.

DARR OAR is clearly 2.35:1 as listed on back of YRF BluRay.

May I ask what the point of another individual thread was when a Darr Blu-ray thread already exists somewhere out there?
