United Kingdom Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy

Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

NEWS/TRAILER

Quote:
British distributors Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment have revealed that they are preparing for Blu-ray release Rob Heydon's Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy, (2011), starring Adam Sinclair, Kristin Kreuk and Billy Boyd. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is August 20th.

Dark-tinged indie romantic comedy based on Irvine Welsh's novella 'The Undefeated', taken from his three-part follow-up to the bestselling 'Trainspotting': 'Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance'. A chemical-fuelled romance with the beautiful and unhappily married Heather (Kreuk) gives Lloyd (Sinclair) a taste of pure ecstasy - but a drugs run gone wrong soon leads to one comedown too many. Irvine Welsh makes a cameo appearance as a Scotland Against Drugs representative.

I'm going to rent it, as I love Trainspotting. However, I don't know if this is regarded as being particularly good.

It's described here as being a "dark romantic comedy":

It looks like drug use and strong sex are the reason for an 18 certificate:

I haven't seen Taken, but I imagine the drug use would be similar to that in Trainspotting?

I'll watch Taken if you watch Trainspotting. Deal?

This film looks awful and reviews have been relentless against it, plus I'm not too crazy on Trainspotting and the fact this looks like a straight unashamed rip off doesn't help my feeling towards it
