I have the the complete series of 'The Andy Griffith Show' on Dvd and it's a very nice set. The picture looks really good and most of the of the episodes are uncut was is very nice (only 2 episodes are cut). This Dvd set also has original commercial advertisements that played after some of the episodes.
Anyways I would like to see this show come out on Blu-ray with all of the shows uncut and with original commercial advertisements and lots of bonus stuff for a Blu-ray edition of this show. |

Eh, I like the show but there are far better shows that deserve the HD treatment first. I Love Lucy comes to mind, and in my opinion, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Get Smart, etc. Hell, I'd even love to see The Honeymooners restored as best as possible in HD!

No thanks! Never was a fan of the show. I would never say "don't release it, it's boring!" cause afterall, many people are fans of this show but I would never buy it, just not for me.
Too bad some of my favorites would not offer much upgrade on Blu-ray since they were put on tape instead of film. Things like Three's Company, Soap, WKRP In Cincinnati. |

The Andy Griffith Show is my favorite or one of my favorite tv shows of all times. Some people like the The Andy Griffith Show more than other tv shows and other people like other tv shows more than they like The Andy Griffith Show. This all comes down to opinions and the fact that some people's favorite tv shows are different from other people's favorite tv shows and so on ![]() |

I'd like to see it on Blu-ray too. Fix the two episodes, carry over all the extras (including the exclusive bonus disc from the complete set and the 50th disc that's out now) and throw in the CBS reunion from a few years ago.

I wonder if the passing of Andy Griffith today will fan any flames in terms of getting a blu-ray release of The Andy Griffith Show. It was/is one of my favorite shows of all time. I hope it gets the treatment it deserves on blu-ray (similar to Twilight Zone). I will buy the day it comes out.

What do you think about this idea as a Blu-Ray box set?
To CBS Home Entertainment: I would like to suggest a Complete Series set of The Andy Griffith Show, with all episodes unedited and in high definition (and with the laugh tracks intact), all the episodes of Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., unedited and in high definition and with sponsor spots, Mayberry, R.F.D., (from Warner Brothers) unedited and in high definition, sponsor spots, additional commercials with the cast, cast interviews, documentaries, Return to Mayberry, the TV specials (The Andy Griffith Show 25th Anniversary Special, 1985, Thirty Years of Andy, 1990, The Andy Griffith Show Reunion, 1993, The Andy Griffith Show Reunion: Back to Mayberry, 2003), It's Garry Shandling's Show: The Day Howard Moved In, photo galleries, Matlock's homages to The Andy Griffith Show (including clips of co-stars of The Andy Griffith Show appearing on Matlock), Don Knotts's appearance on Step by Step (as "Deputy Fief"), Barney's commercial with the "Crash Test Dummies", Andy Griffith's appearance in the October 25, 1963 Bob Hope special, audio/text commentaries, George Lindsey's appearances on Hee Haw, production notes, promos (CBS, syndication, TBS, TV Land), The Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, and Jim Nabors Special, Hal Smith's Mothers Against Drunk Driving commercials, Alan Jackson's "Don't Rock the Jukebox" music video with Hal Smith as Otis, the pilot episode from The Danny Thomas Show (27 minutes), Jim Nabors' appearances as Gomer Pyle on The Lucy Show and Hi Honey, I'm Home, Goober and the Trucker's Paradise (1978), The New Andy Griffith Show's pilot episode, "The Joey Bishop Show: Joey's Hideaway Cabin" with Don Knotts as Barney, CBS fall preview specials with the cast, Inside TV Land: The Andy Griffith Show, The E! True Hollywood Story: Andy of Mayberry, the trailer for "Angel in My Pocket", the Biographies of Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, and Ron Howard, Emmy Award/TV Land Award footage, and more. Some additional material for this set: The Don Knotts Show (1967), The Don Knotts Nice, Clean, Decent, Wholesome Hour (1967), The Don Knotts Special Variety Special (1967), Mr. Moe's (1988) with Don Knotts and Hal Smith, the Saturday Night Live parody of The Andy Griffith Show with Ron Howard, and a "Mayberry Jukebox" with albums released by the cast and the show's soundtrack album. Home movies from The Andy Griffith Show should be included. Scripts from the show (plus Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. and Mayberry, R.F.D., and the script for Return to Mayberry) should be included as .PDFs. English subtitles should be included. A collector's book should be included. Jim Clark, Allan Newsome, and Ken Beck should be executive producers of the set. A special tribute to Andy Griffith should be included in the set. Last edited by classictvfan91; 08-14-2012 at 12:19 AM. |

I am not sure what you should do, but I will tell you what I did and what I would do. I purchased the Dvds back in 2008 before I had a Blu-ray. Right now I have 3 Blu-ray players and if I did not have the show on Dvd or Blu-ray I will still purchase the show right now. I really like this show and I like the fact tha I can watch any Episode of the The Andy Griffith Show any time I want. I am not sure when this will come out on Blu-ray. Even if it was out on Blu-ray and I purchased the Blu-ray I will still want to have this show on Dvd, because I like this show so much. Now this is me and what I would do. What someone else will want to do can be different from what I want to do.

The DVD sets look great and are almost fully intact (there are a couple episodes that did not make it "uncut" due to lost film, as I understood). I bought seasons 1 - 5 individually on DVD and enjoy them immensely (I have no interest in the final 3 "color" seasons after Knotts left). If you are a fan of the show as much as I am, you’d be very happy with the DVDs and would only consider any future blu-ray releases as a bonus.
