I just got this in a few days ago and started to watch it, but Icon may have made a mistake in authoring.

This disc is entirely 1080/50i and the film runs 122 minutes. It is not unusual for Scandinavian films to be shot at 25 fps, but Bastarden seems to have been shot at 24 fps, based on the run time stated everywhere, including in Denmark, being 127-128 minutes. I also found what appears to be a scan of the Danish BD, which shows that it also runs at 24 fps, although bear in mind that the source of this scan is dubious:

Also, somewhat unusually, every file on the Icon BD (including the menu and Icon logo) is also in 1080/50i. The fact that there is no 1080p24 content anywhere on the disc leads me to suspect that it might be 1080/50i in error.

I am going to abort my viewing for now, but I will post the full scans of the disc when they are done.

Could be a streaming master? iTunes, Microsoft and Prime Video both have it at 2h 2m. In UK cinemas the runtime was 127m.

Just watched this broadcast on BBC 2 in the UK.
It didn't look 'apalling' but then again it was live tv rather than streamed.
Another typical badass Mads outing ; he sure knows how to pick 'em.

I watched this on Saturday with pizza. I almost got the UHD but decided I didn't want another set of subtitles to look after. This was a blind buy but I liked it a lot. It's about a former soldier who attempts to cultivate an area of Denmark with harsh growing conditions, the heath. Most of the movie centers around the conflict between him and a local landowner who wants him out. Most of the drama centers on this. But I was also pretty captivated by his attempts to tame the land and the logistics of trying to being settlers to the region. There's also a racial subplot, kind of heart breaking. Anyway, this held my interest the whole way and gave me a lot to think about. Mads was great as always of course. And I liked how his personality subtly changes as time passes ad the conflicts, both with the land and the landowners, deepens.

The blu-ray looks pretty good. Some of the shots are so incredible I started regretting I didn't just go for the UHD. Maybe someday. Or if it ever gets an English friendly UHD. For sound I used headphones and the sound was really good, particularly in the "weather" scenes. Really helped bring some of the harsh conditions to life. The only special is a half hour interview with the director, all in English, and that was really informative. Talked about a whole bunch of stuff that went into making the movie, researching the story, and directing the actors. I'd recommend this movie and also the blu-ray even as a blind buy.
