Smile EARTHQUAKE - 1974 Universal to Blu-ray?

I'm curious to find out if as part of the 100th Anniversary if EARTHQUAKE will be included in the Bluray releases this year by Universal Home Video. In checking one of the retail sites, the previous DVD is still hanging on, but down to maybe 1 copy. However, I saw another listing of it being re-released on June 5 with DVD + Digital Copy, and the previous release was just updated to add the 100th Anniversary packaging. Would that mean Bluray will happen the same day or soon follow? I've seen Earthquake on FIOS On-Demand in HD and it looks superb against the print from the DVD, so I believe it is ready for Bluray. Same with THE HINDENBURG from 1975, but have not seen anything on ROLLERCOASTER from 1977. The DVD versions I have for both of these later films on US release is prior to adding the 16.9 dimentions for the flat screen TVs, and have fuzzy & speckled prints. I would hope Universal would do a Bluray update of the AIRPORT box of all 4 films, then do a Senssuround Box Set to include all 4 films that were issued in that format (Earthquake, Midway, Rollercoaster & the theatrical release of Battlestar Gallactica). Let's see what happens. Any insight would be appreciated.

Nothing even on the horizon. As a matter of fact it's been a decade since it was re-released on DVD.

The leaked Universal press release - which, despite having been banished to/lost in the Wishlist thread, has been totally accurate thus far - unfortunately lists EARTHQUAKE as a dvd only re-release.

There is no mention of MIDWAY, GALACTICA or ROLLERCOASTER and I doubt it'd make sense for them to release a Sensurround set, given that most people don't know what that is and there's no good way to recreate the effect anyway.

Better news is that they ARE reportedly going to release the original AIRPORT on Blu, though there's no mention of the sequels in either format.

I'm with you, though. Love ROLLERCOASTER, have very fond memories of seeing my flares-a-flappin' with Sensurround, and I would've thought EARTHQUAKE was important enough for them to release it on Blu. Maybe they'll surprise us.

I know that leaked list has been pretty accurate sans exact release dates. I made a list of the titles I am intrested in and so for those curious here is what I wrote down:

Blues Brothers 2000 - June
The Bone Collector - October
Bride of Chucky - October
Fear - October
Jaws 2 - August
Jaws 3-D - August
Slap Shot - September

I guess Evan Almighty and Life didn't make the cut. I was hoping to replace my HD DVD of Evan Almighty, too.

You would think, with The Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure already out on Blu-ray..that Earthquake would be soon. If done right, this one should give your sub a workout!!

Sometimes it just doesn't make sense that a studio will go to the effort to produce a DVD but doesn't take a leap of faith and jump to Blu-Ray. Could have been sold as a combo Blu-Ray/DVD... and it's Universal's 100th Anniversary and all... Earthquake (1974). Would the extra cost have been so prohibitive? You'd think the disaster movie genre with The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno both Fox movies already released on Blu-Ray that Universal would have wanted to take advantage of the marketing THEY didn't have to pay for!
