Default Best 3rd Movies in A Series

The only qualification for this is, it must've been released in theaters, not direct-to-video.

I included Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith because some people view them as the the 3rd movie in 2 separate trilogies, and not as part III and part VI.

Here's a compiled list of 3rd Movies and their Freshness:

Toy Story 3 99% Fresh

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly 98% Fresh

Goldfinger 96% Fresh

Return of the King 94% Fresh

The Bourne Ultimatum 93% Fresh

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 89% Fresh

Indian Jones and the Last Crusade 89% Fresh

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome 81% Fresh

Revenge of the Sith 79% Fresh

Enforcer (Dirty Harry) 78% Fresh

Escape From the Planet of the Apes 78% Fresh

Army of Darkness 77% Fresh

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock 76% Fresh

Return of the Jedi 75% Fresh

Back to the Future III 71% Fresh

Mission: Impossible 70% Fresh

Ocean's 13 70% Fresh

T3: Rise of the Machines 70% Fresh

Once Upon A Time In Mexico 69% Fresh

Red Dragon 68% Fresh

The Godfather Part 3 66% Fresh

Rocky III 65% Fresh

Spider-Man 3 62% Fresh

Lethal Weapon 3 59% Fresh

X-Men: The Last Stand 57 % Fresh

American Wedding 55% Fresh

Pretty sad comment on the state of filmaking today that this thread even exists. Sigh.

IMO, it's either

Star Wars: ROTJ
Indy and the Last Crusade, or
Bourne Ultimatum

Well I agree with the Bourne Ultimatum. I actually think its one of the best 3rd films out there. Plus I thought it would be fun to show that there are worse 3rd films out there than X-Men 3.

And why is it sad that this thread even exists

I'd definitely go with Bourne. Other than Bourne and Potter I'm not a big fan of any movies on the list. One movie I enjoyed some that isn't on the list is Austin Powers in Goldmember, which got a 54% on RT. Not a great movie but a good opening scene and pretty funny in general. Still, goes to show that most franchises should stop at the second movie.

How do you determine your freshness rating?

Oh, and how about Goldfinger?

Edit: If freshness comes from Rotten Tomatoes, then Goldfinger scores a 96%.

Oh this is just going by what Rotten Tomatoes says about these films. These aren't my freshness ratings.

Prisoner Of Azkaban didn't work it out for me

Bourne's fine

Last Crusade was my favorite in the series

Return Of The Jedi was pretty badass, so it's fine

Tokyo Drift was my favorite of the series too

Revenge Of The Sith was my favorite of the prequels

Rocky III was meh, just because it has "Eye Of The Tiger"

That's just me.

Forgot about Army of Darkness, that movie's classic. Godfather 3 not so much.

No Underworld or any of the horror like Halloween and Friday the 13th. Not the best anyway but...

I'd have to go with Return of the King

Return of the King has finally been added . I didn't add Halloween 3 cuz it doesn't really fit in with the franchise. But i guess I can add it if you want.
