United Kingdom Any 101 Dalmatians reviews yet?

I'm looking for some feedback before importing to the Sates. Tarzan got pretty bad pq reviews for a Disney animated film so I'm a bit hesitant on pulling the trigger on 101.

Thanks,
Tom

Coincidentally I just watched this. It has the DVD transfer but in high definition and with lossless audio. It is also region free. It looks and sounds perfect to me.

Are any of the bonus features from the 2-disc DVD on the Blu-Ray as well?

I have just the 101 Dalmatians release, not the double pack.

It does not come with a slipcover.

The only UK BDs that get slips now are the Diamond releases.

I got the 101 DALMATIANS disc. PQ is good but the disc feels like a budget affair. You can't even select a chapter whilst watching the movie - you have to go back to the main menu, like DVD.

Are Disney just dumping no-frills discs on Europe early and waiting to release proper versions in the US?

I would say the releases so far have been pretty equal, the US releases might have a better bitrate and fancy slips but the actual content and transfer of the vast majority of releases have been practically identical.

Sure Tarzan is a no frills disc with a flickering transfer and lossy DD5.1 but its the only Euro release I can think of that has been a let down and with no US release to compare it too we don't even know how it will compare, they could end up with the exact same disc.

I'll let you know later, or tomorrow, if no one else does.

Thanks! I would like to know too, before I take the plunge!

Still not sure whether to wait for the US releases yet?

Thanks James.

To look at it the opposite way, everything from the 2 disc DVD is on the Blu-Ray, apart from:
  • 101 Pop-Up Trivia Facts "For the Family"
  • 101 Pop-Up Trivia Facts "For the Fans"
  • Disney Virtual Dalmatians DVD-ROM
  • Disney Virtual Dalmatians set-top preview
  • "Puppy Profiler"
  • "One Hundred and One Dalmatians Fun with Language Games"
  • And possibly (but I'm not 100% sure) the 7 Art Galleries

Both the 2 disc DVD and the Blu-Ray have an aspect ratio of 1.33:1 ('full screen'), which was the intended aspect ratio. I've read online that in the pastv a widescreen version was released. Is that right?
I'm pleased that the Blu-Ray is the intended aspect ratio, but I would be interested in seeing a widescreen version, if it isn't just a cropped version. If anyone has a widescreen version could they possibly do a comparison?
