Default What is Still Your Oldest, and Best Home Theater Component?

Home Theater has come a LONG way!

What is the oldest piece of Home Theater equipment you still proudly feature these days in your set up?

For us, it has to be our Cambridge SoundWorks Speakers from 1996!

I have a JVC HR-S9800U(from 1998) I bought it used about 6 years ago that I am starting to re-convert my VHS to DVD/Blu Ray and or Digital. At some point it will be added into the rest.

While all of my other speakers and subs in my 7.2 system are Klipsch Reference, my front towers are (and always will be) original DCM Time Windows from 1979 or 1980. I bought them for my stereo system then, and bought another pair for my theater. Just love'em...

I have a few items that I use for Laserdiscs in my HT. Yes I know, but I enjoy Star Wars the way I saw it in the theater. I have two LD players from 1992. A Panasonic LX-1000U and Pioneer Elite CLD-95 which I run through a Panasonic DMR-E20's excellent 3D comb filter form 2001. You can see all of my equipment in my galleries here.

I still have my Pioneer CLD-S270 Laserdisc player from the early 90's and a few movie discs for it that have never been released on any other format. Always fun to bring one out when I have some guests over, the amount of times I have been asked "What the hell is that thing?" never gets old.

My speakers. March 15, 2003.

Cannot find anything in the same price range that'd be an improvement.

Yeah, a lot of the kids at my company have never heard of a Laserdisc player either. We'll be talking about blus and dvds and ill mention that my family had a laserdisc player(still has it and works) when i was growing up. Some of them will be like " laserdisc, what's a laserdisc?" I explain of course but i find it amusing!

Fun thread!

My subwoofers are Fried SM's from the late 70's - I rebuilt and modified the cabinets and removed the crossover, it weighed about 8 pounds!

My main amp is a Cinepro 3K6 mark2 from the late 90's I believe - 83lbs of kick ass love!

Also have a Nakamichi CR4A cassette deck that needs some love to work properly. This one has the fully internally copper plated chasis = sweet.

my car audio equipment is equally old and awesome

Hi DarkDune First off, I'd like to tell you, you have a wonderful looking home, and HT, and welcome to the Galleries.

My oldest piece is a Parasound EQ225 I've had since 1986.
