UPDATES:

Quote:
JUST recently, producer Michael G. Wilson said work had started on the next 007 adventure - known only as Bond 23 at the moment - and that Daniel Craig was keen to return for a third outing as the agent.

The Observer has now reported that screenwriter Paul Haggis is likely to be involved in the script. Haggis had reworked the screenplays for Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, both penned by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. He had also turned down an offer to direct Quantum.

Meanwhile, The Guardian speculates that some of the next Bond movie will be set in Afghanistan's Helmand province after an official at the British embassy in Kabul was hired as a consultant for the film.

It claims the official signed a confidentiality agreement with the filmmakers to prevent any discussion of the project.

Thousands of British troops are based in Helmand privince - the centre of the country's $4billion heroin market, where drugs fund the insurgency and fuel corruption.

It wouldn't be the first time 007 had ventured into Afghanistan. In 1987's The Living Daylights, Timothy Dalton's Bond was imprisoned there in a Russian camp and teamed up with anti-Soviet freedom fighters.

I also like the new Bond films, and would be disappointed if Daniel Craig didn't come back for the next one.

I loved Casino Royale, absolutely hated Quantum of Solace. Personally I find it amazing how much difference there is between those two movies. If they go back to the James Bond of CR, and drop the James Bourne of QoS I'll be on board.

I actually hate both of 'em. But now's a good time for Craig to make a real Bond film.

Craig is under contract to return (I think after Quantum he signed a five picture deal from memory).

That's great, at the very least it won't be Will Smith.

He has signed on for 3 more. After CR he signed on for 4 more films, which included QoS. So that puts his total to 5 as of right now.

This article is almost two years old but it gives you an idea that he will be in at least 5.

Judi Dench back for Bond 23

It wouldn’t be a modern-day 007 film without Judi Dench on hand – and she will be returning for the next James Bond movie, it’s been confirmed.

Heading into production later this year, under the watchful eye of director Sam Mendes, will be the delayed twenty-third James Bond movie. Daniel Craig is definitely returning in the lead role, and while we await formal casting confirmation for one or two other parts, it's been revealed that one series regular is definitely back.

Dame Judi Dench has been playing M since 1995's GoldenEye, and at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards earlier this week, she confirmed that she would be back again for the next film. She didn't reveal anything more than that, though, saying, "My lips are sealed. I can't tell you anything at all!"

The new James Bond movie is released on 9th November 2012.

It's hardly unexpected, but still great news and by the time Bond 23 does come out Judi Dench will have been in the role for 17 years, which is as long as the original M, Bernard Lee. So if Daniel Craig makes it to predicted five films and assuming they'll come out every other year, she have played M for 21 years.

I was also watching Quantum of Solace last night and I was thinking that maybe they should expand on Bond's relationship with Felix Leiter much more for Bond 23 so it's more in tone with past Bond movies, meaning they'd be closer friends that actually worked together.

Glad to see Judi Dench is coming back She's my favorite M, so I'm glad to see she's continuing in the role. Hope she stays around for most of Craig's movies

Thumbs up The James Bond #23 Discussion Thread

Source:CommanderBond.net

Quote:
Daniel Craig has just put the Bond 23 timeline into perspective, stating that production is set to kick off in the second half of 2010.

The comment was made by Craig after a performance of his Broadway play A Steady Rain alongside Hugh Jackman. While signing autographs and posing for photos with fans, one female member in the crowd asked when the next James Bond film was coming out—to which Craig replied ‘Uh, we start the end of the next year, so…’

To view the brief Craig comment, visit this YouTube link (and scroll forward almost one minute in).

CommanderBond.net readers will recall that producer Michael G. Wilson had stated that work had begun on Bond 23 earlier this year, although he failed to divulge any specifics. With Craig’s latest comment now, it seems fairly certain that we’ll be back to a three-year wait between Bond films.

As always, keep turning to the CommanderBond.net main page for the most up-to-date Bond coverage on the net.
Presumably, the film will be released in the winter of 2011.
