Default Thunderbolt HD - HT - HELP!

I Have a Mac in my room and am looking at storing loads of movies on a Hard Drive.

My Mac has a Thunderbolt I/O
so i am looking at this 4TB Thunderbolt Harddrive.http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H8...%3Dthunderbolt

I wanted to know the best way to use this with my Receiver / HT

I Noticed this has 2 Thunderbolt ports and was wondering if this were to work.----------

Plug one cable from the HD to my MAC
And the other to my receiver using a Thunderbolt to HDMI and connect that to my receiver.

Would this let me Transfer new movies onto the HD and then able to watch with my HT.

The only problem i can see with this is , how can i select and view my movies , i will need some kind of media player or something?

Could anyone give me some help / ideas?

Thanks

You are not talking about ripping movies, are you? Ripping movie discussions are not allowed on this forum.

No not really.
Im not specifically talking about where i get my movies from.
I Just mentioned that i will have a media library on the HD

Sorry if that was unclear,

My Question is pointed towards the HD Itself and the use of Software to play my movies and the availability of using it with a Home Theater

Pretty sure you can't hook up an external storage device to a receiver via HDMI and expect anything to work.

You don't hook up storage devices to the receiver unless it has a media player built in. Just connect the external drive to your mac and your mac to the receiver (thunderbolt to hdmi).
