Default Batman Directors

I know everyone has their favorite Batman film for their own reasons. We have seen three directors take the lead of the last 6 films, who is your favorite and who do you think did they best job showing their vision? I would say the work Nolan did with "The Dark Knight", he has the edge over Burton. I love "Batman Returns" but it still comes in second place.

Thoughts everyone...

Well if we go by work alone, I would say Chris Nolan, specialy with Batman Begins (I prefered the first one over TDK), in second I would say Tim Burton and third Joel Schumacker.

I like Batman Begins and TDK better than the first two films but I'm gonna give Burton and Nolan a tie here.

I think they both succeded in presenting their visions of Batman and the world that surrounds him. Batman and Batman Returns are undeniably Tim Burton films but I think it worked very well. The words "comic book" come plainly to mind when I think of his films and in the Batman films it is very clear. Nolan on the other hand took beyond the comic book page and made it real. Its almost as if he is writing an essay: "If Batman was real, how would it work?" Both films seem to be constantly answering questions on how Batman and his enemies would act, look and respond in the real world.

Gripping stuff, on both accounts.

Schumacher on the other hand...

Should be banned from directing. If there is a bigger crime than letting him direct Batman Forever, its giving him the green light to do Batman and Robin

Nolan with burton as second

if there was one director i give the nod to take over after nolan, it's zack snyder, take it in a bit of a new direction & maybe semi-reboot

Nolan ahead by a mile imho
but thats because i didnt like burton/shoesuckers films

none of the original four were 'my cup o tea'
but im definitly in the minority regarding the burton films and i can accept that

as far as nolans films, im torn between the two as the better
batman begins can be seen as a psycological film, centering solely on Wayne and his journey to becoming the bat

tdk i look at more as a sociological film, taking the focus and turning it to the public and several other characters

my favorite tends to be the one i watched most recently

I loved the first half of Batman Begins, then it got kind of generic for the ending.

Burton's are excellent as well so I'll give them a tie.

Joel Schumacher. I loved the direction he took with Batman & Robin. I wish WB would have allowed him to do one more movie. Burton was good not great. I hate that Nolan is making these films more realistic. Comic book movie are suppose to be fantasy not reality. Thats what made Supergirl and Superman IV soo great. They didn't take themselves serious.

OK, Joel Schumacher was awful. It's obviously between Burton and Nolan.

Burton's films were more faithful to the comic book but Nolan's films were better executed. Nolan's films carried more weight because of the chilling post 9/11 political commentary running throughout the trilogy. I also think Bale pulled off the dual personalities better than Keaton as well.

Sorry I'm new and trying to figure out this site, lol. When I look up movies I see like threads on the bottom of the screen and I click on them and answer them, haha. I didn't even look at the dates. Sorry if it's annoying, haha. I'll figure out how everything works soon enough.
