So here I am, watching one of my least-favorite 007 movies On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Right off the bat, I was floored by it. Not only because it looks so sharp and clean, but I was really catching onto the nuances of each scene's camera composition, details, editing, and actors' performances. Above all, I always thought this film looked gaudy on DVD, especially since the opening scenes had a weird purple tinge to it; the colors look much more natural on BD.
So it got me thinking, which other movies did I hate that I found more bearable on Blu-Ray. A few others for me were Spawn, Mad Max, and the original Dawn of the Dead. I don't know why, but watching these films I originally disliked were actually better for me when viewed in decent high-quality video. How about anybody else? Do you find certain movies more likable/bearable in high-def, as opposed to lower quality? |
