It's going to be a wonderful high-def December for me; I'm in the midst of stockpiling Xmas BDs, as I'm all too eager to get into the Christmas spirit.
Too early? Maybe. But to me, when Uni's over for the year (and actually over for good in a week), there's nothing happening until Christmas. I have literally nothing happening between Uni ending and Christmas, so my focus just shifts from one to the next ![]() Anyway, I recently ordered these from Amazon UK & US: Home Alone 1 & 2 A Christmas Carol (1951) A Christmas Carol (1984) Scrooged White Christmas The Santa Clause How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966) Plus I've pre-ordered The Muppet Christmas Carol, a release I'm anticipating greatly...and salivating over. Also eying Miracle on 34th Street, but it's too pricey right now. And in recent months I've purchased these from JB: Bad Santa Love Actually Gremlins A Christmas Carol (2009) 3D Elf Of course I already own my favourites: Christmas Vacation, It's a Wonderful Life, A Nightmare Before Christmas (3D), and the Die Hard films. |

Don't have too many myself, but generally mine take on some sort of non-standard approach. :0
Die Hard 1 & 2 The Nightmare Before Christmas The Polar Express I'm sure I have a few more, those are just the ones I can recall at the moment. Die Hard usually gets a spin though. I also like checking out some Christmas episodes of TV shows. The West Wing (one of my favourite series) has some of the best Christmas episodes in my opinion. "In Excelsis Deo", "Noel" and "Holy Night" are all incredible pieces of television. |

Very fond myself of some Christmas-related films, but have no patience for a lot of them, to be honest. Too many are either giving out messages which I find a bit dubious (no, I'm not religious), or simply drip with ick, both of which stop me enjoying them. But that's just personal choice, of course.
One that I'd recommend that isn't on your list yet, SB: A Christmas Story. It's very sweet, and very funny. It's based on Jean Shepherd's autobiographical novel "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash" about his childhood, stars Melinda Dillon and Darren McGavin, and was made by Bob Clark, who was also responsible for the famous slasher flick Black Christmas, the famous teen sex flick Porky's, and one of the best Jack the Ripper flicks, Murder by Decree. |

That reminds me, Alex. It's not out on Blu-ray, but I always have to watch Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean every Christmas Eve. Love it.
![]() And Mac? I've never been crazy about A Christmas Story, but I plan to give it a re-watch this year, and may end up buying the Blu-ray. |

![]() My next favourite is probably Alastair Sim's A Christmas Carol. I confess I've never seen the George C. Scott version, though he's one of my favourite US actors — is it any good? I recently saw the Reginald Owen version, and quite enjoyed that. And another that hasn't been mentioned yet is The Man Who Came to Dinner, with Monty Woolley. |

The 1984 Christmas Carol with George C. Scott is my favourite adaptation of the story. I do enjoy the Alistair Sim version, but the 1984 retelling surpasses it in my books. Better dialogue, better pacing, and Scott's portrayal of Scrooge is 100% spot-on. Definitely check it out sometime close to Christmas. And I'll add The Man Who Came to Dinner to my to-watch list for this festive season

It doesn't look like the Dreamworks Holiday blu-ray nor the Kung Fu Panda blu-ray are getting a release here anytime soon. So I've ordered them fro Amazon US. They're region free. I have The Muppets Christmas Carol on dvd and it's a classic which gets a run every Christmas in my home!
