I'm looking to get a 3D TV and am currently looking at E3D470VX simply because it's $600 and I don't have a ton of money. But I don't want to rush out and pay for a crap TV. I really want to see if it's worth it. I read a review that praised the hell out of the TV but am wondering if that was just one person's opinion.
Also, and a side note I am wondering if I'll have to buy a new receiver. My current one doesn't support 3D since it was manufactured before 3D TVs. Can I still use my current receiver or not? |

I am not sure of the quality of Vizio TV's, but I can answer the second part.
If your receiver does not support HDMI 1.4 then it will not pass the 3D signal to your TV. So yes you can still use it but you wont be able to use the 3D function of your TV. |

Anyway, I need to be spending probably close to $1000 on the TV and new receiver. So that kind of sucks, but whatever. I want to do it. Sorry about my rambling ![]() |

From what I been hearing and have read Vizio HDTV's are getting better and better every year. My first HDTV was a Vizio years ago and it was a disaster! But hey things have changed for them big time since then. Would I personally ever own a Vizio again? No but thats just me. Hell I dont plan on buying another HDTV anytime soon period.

Yes, you can. You just turn smooth motion off and you are back to a 60hz TV. My father has this TV at his home and it is an excellent 3D Television. Almost up to par with my LG. The only downside to Vizio is that they are slow with firmware updates, but that does not make this a television I would not recommend. For the price and size, you cannot find a better passive 3D set.

I bought a Samsung 51" active 3D plasma. Had to take it back and bought the 3D47OVX. I took the Vizio back because the 3D has noticeably lower detail. That and the backlight uniformity was bad with blotchy white patches. The good points are great 2D picture and a bright 3D picture. Wireless built in worked. The 3D being 540p was noticeable but the image overall was good, depth, pop and motion. The blotchy backlight could have been just my tv so check with other owners on that. I would recommend checking out a 720p 3D plasma if you want around $600 I think one is going for $650 at BB. Look at both and decide.

Same thing I've heard as well. Good Picture Quality, but subpar sound. But then, that tends to be the same for most HDTVs without external speakers.

Good luck with your vizio's the company is just a value brand. Meaning the buy tier 2 or flawed panels from name brand companies like lg. Then they buy Old parts as well and that's how they put together a tv. That is how the owner got into Business, he would bulk buy all the 3 and 4 yr old parts from name brands and then sell smaller quantities to value companies. The worst part is Vizio is not an American made company they are made in Taiwan, the assembled in North America aka Mexico. They are on the verge of a class action lawsuit because they don't keep track of who's parts they use in any tv's nor do they back stock anything. So when people call for a part that's not warranty covered or just out of warranty they recommend you buy a replacement tv. At least once a week I have someone come tell me their vizio broke after a year and a half.

Where do people come up with this stuff? 120Hz is the refresh rate of the set. It is NOT adjustable. Motion interpolation is what produces the soap opera effect and IS adjustable. Please understand the technology before offering advice, as it only perpetuates the cycle of under-informed members. |

geez....no reason to get all defensive because someone corrected your error. at first i disliked smooth motion. now i watch most everything on low. it helps the vizio look just a little better, a little sharper. im happy with my vizio. would i want a panny plasma? hell yeah, but pound for pound, you cant beat this box.
