Help with buying a TV

Hello,

I need some help with picking out a TV. I know I want about a 65 inch TV. The wall it will be against is 16.7 feet and distance to other side is about 14.5 feet.

The main thing I need help with. Is brands/models. Also, how worth it is the price jump to get an LED that can display true blacks (LED because the room is too bright for Plasma, at least I think so).

The room is brightly lit and hopefully the pictures above will help. Brand new place in a brand new state even... might as well start right.

I don't know about the USA but in Canada it seemed like all the tv deals were for LED's this boxing week. Seems to me like the price gap from Plasma/LCD to LED isn't that big at all anymore.

I think a Plasma would be fine in this room, anti-screen reflection has come a long way. If you have light from behind your seat location you may notice some reflection, but even then its not terrible. So looking at that wall (is that where you plan to put it?), the window is almost at 70-90 degree angle from the TV...I think it would be ok.

Only reason I say this is because you get better size/value from Plasma than a comparable LCD/LED.

Nothing wrong with either technology though. I say go as big as you can afford! Plasma or LCD/LED.


For plasma you should look into Panasonic or Samsung. (can't say I know enough about LED but Sharp makes top LED as far as blacks are concerned)
