It seems like people are complaining just for the sake of complaining.
1. If you already own a PS3, you don't need BC on PS4. Sure it would be convenient for one system to play all your games, but its not a perfect world and most people are not willing to pay the price of a PS4 if it were B/C. 2. When PS4 comes out and you buy one, you most likely will not be playing your old PS3 games very often. I just don't get it. I have a PS3 and plan on getting a PS4. Yes BC would be nice.... but its not a big deal to me. I also realize that including B/C would mean the PS4 would be wayyyy more expensive. If Sony were to do that, then people would just complain about the console being too expensive. You can't have your cake and eat it too. |

I really don't have space for two consoles, a receiver and my DVR. But obviously when/if I get a PS4 I'll have to put it somewhere. But I'm not whining or complaining about it, I knew they wouldn't have BC in it. I'll deal with it when the time comes. Also...people complain to complain. Especially on the internet. Always has to be something. |

I don't have space for two systems unless the PS4 is super tiny. There's still a ton of great games I haven't played on the PS3 as well so the lack of native BC means I probably won't be upgrading to the PS4 for a few years. The lack of PS2 BC on the PS3 sucks. I'd love to play Kingdom Hearts, and a bunch of other games on it.

Backwards compatibility is very important. Like for instance, I can no longer play most of my PS2 games just because Sony took out the backwards compatibility from the PS3. If I could still play them, I would. Like when I got my 1st PS3 which was a 60GB, I would play a PS2 game for a little while and then play a PS3 game.
I don't have room to have a 100 consoles laying around. Plus even if I could, it's not like they'll last forever since consoles do tend to break down. |

Like everyone has already mentioned, it's a space issue as well as a lot more convenient.
As for those that only play new games with the best graphics, good for you, a good game is a good game whether it has top of the line graphics or not. I still regularly play my NES and SNES. I feel sorry for those that only appreciate games with great graphics, I'm assuming you probably missed out on a lot of great games on the Wii then. Also, the Wii U plays Wii games, I am willing to bet the 720 will play 360 games, why can't Sony add backwards compatibility? They have had it since the beginning until they needed to cut costs on the PS3 re-release, and now they are being cheap with the PS4. The real reason they aren't adding it is because then they can't make you buy their games twice. The fact that they are not allowing you to transfer your PSN games over is proof of this. I hope people are smart enough not to re buy everything again. |

Don't trade in your Ps3. I know this is helpful for some to get a PS4 as it paves the way to getting one earlier with the money you get back from the PS3. But, thats life.
I find it alarming that americans don't have enough room. Your homes are the size of football stadiums compared to ours in the UK. I have a stack system rack with 3 PS3's (one US, two UK), both are PS2BC 60GB models. I have only used BC for PS2 about 3 times. I also have 2 PS2 slims (one Japanese, one US) which are boxed up. If BC is a deal breaker, don't buy a PS4. |

The lack of PS3 BC is troubling to me when you consider multiplayer games. Like for me personally, I'm a huge Battlefield 1943 (PSN) fan. I started playing it when it came out in 2009 and I haven't stopped nearly 4 years later. It's my most played game this generation by far, but what happens to it on the PS4? Will it be available via streaming? How well would that work for a multiplayer FPS game where the slightest latency could be game breaking? I feel like I'd most certainly be at a disadvantage to those playing it natively on their PS3's

And if your PS4 broke, you'll be double SOL...
![]() BC is nice but its almost useless. Most launch titles suck so I'll be sticking with my ps3 for an extra year or so anyway. That is the real reason for BC. Launch titles suck and this way you can still use the new system by playing your old games... |
