No 3D listing. This was one for which they said the 3D was outstanding. I read an article which read that some of the theaters weren't showing it correctly or something, and the 3D sucked. Apparently, when it was shown correctly, it was beautiful.

I wondered if Herzog was going to go the '3D only' route. Yes it was beautiful, but not a film a lot of people are going to enjoy once let alone multiple viewings...their loss.

The 3D was well-done, and IMO this is one of the few films where 3D adds something and is even integral to the experience.

Our local indie-arthouse theater is a college-town hole-in-the-wall (and those are the best kind ), but as such, only had to show a second 2-D only distribution.
Never got around to it in the theaters, as I assumed it might go wide to the 3-D enabled cineplexes, or we'd get the B3D.

(If Wim Wenders' artsy dance film could get a B3D, Herzog's actually good and acclaimed documentary would be a given.)

I just cancelled my GB discount version as I thought it was cheaper at Target.

I (paranoidly) feel like if I hadn't cancelled it citing my reason as a better price elsewhere it wouldn't have gone down in price, but EVERYTIME I cancel something coz someone else has the better price amazon has been lowering it. Nevermind that submitting a lower price doesn't do it.

I missed this at the theaters. Really wanted to see it. Will definitely consider blind buying this.

I didn't catch it either.

Even Roger Ebert had to lay off the 3D hate for this one (of course he and Werner are buddies):

This have gotten some really good reviews so I think a blind buy is the right way to go actually!

Cool--It's like "Sanctum" with an actual point!

(Seriously, Herzog has turned his artsy-German talent to some good documentaries, and now that he's discovered 3-D, he's done a better job of giving it industry legitimacy than James Cameron ever did.)

It was playing at my nearby theater, but it was the 2D version. I really wanted to see it in 3d so I passed (I'm a big Herzog fan too) .

This was truly one of the best 3D movies I have seen in a theatre. The price on Amazon got reduced to $19.99 from $30+. Anyone who waited, like me, looking at the initial high price tag should jump on it right now.

Watched it theatrically, and some of the 3D was great, a lot of it was badly done.

Shaky camera + 3D = Eyesore

The slowmoving scenes where the camera wa strategically placed for maximum 3D effect was excellent.

The RC helicopter shot where the crew member reaches to grab the RC helicopter, that didn't work at all. 3D can't focus in that short depth of field.

Also, I noticed a lot of 3D errors in places. When the camera wasn't sure which points were in 3D or not. That created some weird looks. Like a man's head being in the foreground, but the right side of his body was flattened to the background, etc.

Shows that it's a lot harder to shoot in 3D than just, "point and shoot"

Yep - it looks like a 2D/3D 2 pack:

Just picked up a copy for a little more than what I wanted to spend but with some haggling it is still cheaper than anywhere else. I'm not into 3D documentaries as such and this is only my 2nd. But Hubble was awesome and this has an interesting subject matter. The site review makes this documentary sound pretty unique so I'll bite. But the possibility of me buying any more documentaries hangs on this one
