Good news,I had flirted with buying this a few times from Planetaxel, remember them?but alway's picked something else instead and promised myself "I'll get it next time"
It was at a decent price for a while too,not what I have come across on other sites but anyway, this means I will now be picking this up when it is released here.

Have they kept the extras ? Or removed them like they do on most back catalogue European releases these days.

I got the big 3 disk boxset cheap from Planet Axel in a deal when they had money off and free postage deal, when at the time postage was £15 on top (this was before their final free postage on everything offer just before they went bust). So think I paid under £30 tax paid which at the time was a good price.

Yes but that was only on a LE boxset.
Okay the closest is Lawrence of Arabia where the 3rd disk is only in the big boxset. But that boxset seems to have been released globally.

Amazon.com had this for $10 (I think) a while ago, but only for a couple of days & while I was thinking about it, it shot up again. Probably worth buying for the transfer alone. I think it starts off great, but the second half is a bit ponderous, so Heston clean shaved good, Heston with big beard a bit of a bore.

Paramount has stopped putting extras on all international backcatalog releases. So don't expect any extras.

I've got this on the way, but I want to know if anybody has any idea whether this includes the 1923 version or the documentary? I have the 3 disc DVD version and I'd rather everything was on the Blu-ray, but I have a feeling that judging the fact that this is only two disc, and there is a US three disc version, and other releases, such as The Jazz Singer from WB (which has nowhere near the same amount of extras as the US digibook), we are going to miss out

Are we not deserving of these extra features? I can possibly understand with The Jazz Singer as steelbooks tend to drop the special features disc, but this is a normal release. I'd have been willing to pay a bit extra for a three disc version. What will be worse would be if they released the other version over here not long after, after a lot of people have bought this version

I already have about 50 or so DVDs that I've upgraded, which I'm having to keep either for some or all of the special features

The US 3-disc Blu Ray has the silent film and documentary in HD on the third disc so you'd be missing out on that possibly.

And yes, it's commonly known that Paramount hates Europeans judging from the shit catalog releases they give us!
