I have a very small room. So my 2x projector zoom isn't enough. Would a standard photo lens with zoom help out here without damaging the picture too much? Trying too fill out a 125" 16/9 format screen into a room with only a 2.7m distance from lens too screen (3m if i push it).

Hmm, your talking an "ultra short throw" lens here. Some business class projectors with optional wide angle lenses MIGHT do it but I have also read that image uniformity goes down the tank. 3m may give you 100 inch diagonal on some home theater oriented machines. I don't know of any lenses that you could put in front of say a JVC-X30 to make this work right now.
