Default It's Vacation Time...Whats the plan..

With the cold spell gripping the east coast, I can't help but think about the warm summer months and going some where for a nice vacation.

I am thinking about going on a cruise this year and started doing and price shopping..

What have you got plan or thinking about doing this year.

Now That's a dad with the right priorities, my daughter loved Disney (so did I ) and will remember it always if you chip in the magic yourself (no huffin' and puffin' for the long lines). Good luck with the plan Benny

Since becoming a dad…..i only want to make them happy. It bums me out that I haven’t been able to take them yet. But they are 6 (she’ll be 7 next Friday) and 4 (he’ll be 5 in May)…so I know they were a little to young up until this point.

By taking them next year, they s/b old enough to remember the vacation but young enough to still enjoy it.

My sister and my boss both went this past Oct. From what they’ve said….i figure I’ll need $4000ish for the trip for the 4 of us.

I have close to $800 saved up in points on my credit card….hoping to have close to $1300 by the time it comes to pay for this trip.

I know you're a great dad. And yes that would of been too young to really enjoy. My daughter was 8-9 hence was able to walk most of it and stay up late enough for the nightlife Disney. If I were to do it again though I would stay on the lot, expensive but so much better with the no commuting.

Good luck, sounds like a great plan (and if not next year, the one after might even be better age wise but 6 and 8 should be fine)

Already bought airline tickets from this freezing cold place to Florida in late February. I'm taking my daughter and two of her friends (I even sprung for the two friends' airline tickets). It'll be her eighteenth birthday present. A couple days at Disney, several more at the beach...I'll let them do their thing for the most part while I catch up with a couple old college buddies. Already rented a Camaro/Mustang/Charger for the week...just a few more details to iron out.

thanks man!!

my sister and boss both stayed in Disney resorts so they didn't have to commute @ all either. that's why there's were a little higher i think.

good thing is....between those 2 and my parents, we s/b able to plan a pretty fun and pretty full vacation and be able to catch all of the good stuff and skip over the stuff that the kids wouldn't be interested in.

3 of my closest friends and I are all turning the big 3-0 this year, so we're planning a big trip to New Orleans.... It'll be the third time, but we ALWAYS have a blast on Bourbon St.

We haven't done anything for the last 3 years or so beside just doing local day stuff...we have been talking about a cruise since last year and knowing my wife she already started saving up for it.

Also just to add...a thread that I notice now is that more and more parents are taking there kids out from school for a few days for vacation since it much cheaper going before May-August rush.

I already took my "big" vacation for the winter in November when I went to Paradise Island in the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis basketball tournament. The only trip I'll take this year is a week in Arizona in late March/early April for the Arizona Diamondbacks home opener.

Forget the kids…..if we go to Disney next spring I’ll be missing classes.

There's a hotel that opens up right to Downtown Disney and has a back door to California Adventure. My friend had her wedding reception there so a bunch of us booked rooms, it was pretty awesome. Downtown Disney leads to the entrance for both Disneyland and California Adventure. Only thing is Big Thunder Mountain (a classic Disney ride) is closed for the next year or so.

Planning to bring the family to a 7 night cruise in the Southern part of the Caribbean this summer. Haven't finalized the details but it is likely around late June. Never been on a cruise so this should be interesting.

Did the bigtrip to France last year, so this year it's most likely to be a 5/7 day trip to San Diego w/ kids and wife (love Seaworld / Zoo).

Same here, planning a 7 night Caribbean out of NY or Maryland, right now just messing around with the dates.

Our first cruise was back in 96 for our honeymoon, so this would be the first one with the boys.

I'm interested in the Southern part so I gotta start from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Which cruise line were you looking at? I'm thinking Carnival.
