If I ever move or live for an extended period of time, I really do not want to leave my multi-region Blu-ray players behind. Does anyone have any recommendations how to solve this?
I understand that a USA player wouldn't mix with a foreign TV, but would a USA player mix with any projector? If I have a USA multi-region Blu-ray player, can I just take it with me if I ever move to any different country, get an outlet adapter, and attach it to a projector (a USA projector with an outlet adater or a projector from the native country)? |

There are two issues, right - the hz issue and the voltage issue. So, would this work: 1. Bring a USA player and USA projector to Norway. Buy two outlet converters. or 2. Bring a USA player to Norway and connect it to a Norwegian projector. Buy one outlet converter (for the player). |

It depends on what player and projector you have and whether or not their power supply is dual voltage. You may need a step down transformer to step down the voltage from 220/230/240V to 120V otherwise you'll fry your electronics.

Like this: American 2 (or) 3 prong plug ->small (often plastic) plug converter -> Norwegian outlet, right? If your player is 110v (not dual voltage), you would fry it in an instant if you did that. You would need something that converts the current, not only the plug. That's what the step transformer does. The TV has nothing to do with it. Any TV bought here will accept NTSC and/or 60hz signals. The only thing I can not say for certain, is if you would have to convert the 60hz current the player sends out, or if it would be fine the way it is. I know you would have to convert the 110v. The projector is the same thing, really. If it's 110v, you have to convert the current. Otherwise - zap and burn. |
