United Kingdom Moonlighting (1982) - Jerzy Skolimowski. Screenbound.

Just noticed Screenbound are putting this out in September.
http://https://www.classicfilmsdirect.com/product/moonlighting-blu-rayExciting news for Skolimowski fans (myself included) as the US release was bare bones and very expensive to import. Hope it has the same transfer, but you never know with Screenbound.
This is a really great film with some amazing 80s London locations and is really entertaining (as most of Skolimowski’s other work like Deep End and The Shout)

Had the chance to watch Moonlighting in the theater last September, with Skolimowski himself present, sharing some funny anecdotes about the movie set.

It really deserves a solid blu ray release!

Delighted it's finally getting a local release, I would encourage anyone who hasn't seen it to give it a watch.

Already have the US release, so unless Screenbound improve on the PQ, I'll pass. Could really do with some decent extras. Jeremy Irons' commentary on the US disc is...well, for the most part, silent - he clearly enjoyed watching the film again and apologises for the long spells of dead air. In other words, you're not missing out on much by getting this release.

It's a shame Indicator didn't snap this one up, would've suited them. What are the chances for Success is the Best Revenge?

In all seriousness, I'm amazed Fabulous Films hasn't put out a box set.

Watched on a 65" C8. The image rock solid, with depth consistent throughout, colour's are natural, properly saturated, with no presence of any global tinting; and white and black levels are balanced.

Grain is healthy, some minor instances of print damage that I didn't find to distracting.

Audio is mostly clear and full but, I did notice an audible hiss more during the opening credits. I'm not sure if this will be more present throughout with other set ups. But nothing I don't think can be mostly tuned out.

Overall, buy with confidence.

Good to hear. Will definitely pick this up eventually. A shame they didn't offer it to someone like Indicator though, could've added some great extras to this.

It's temporarily out of stock on Amazon. Yeah Indicator would be better just for not having the worry of it going OOP.

And for anyone that hasn't seen it. It's basically a subversion piece of the familiar into something alien. And a meditation on that.

It's simple, but weird.

That's been the case with the other Skolimowski films I've experienced, so not surprised! Also keen to see this for Jeremy Irons, who's an actor I've been impressed by a few times now but not seen enough of.

Hmm upon checking looks like Amazon isn't going to be getting more stock of Deep End.

Yeah, I love this film. Indicator would be a perfect fit for a few of his other English language films like Success is the Best Revenge, Ferdydurke and King Queen Knave, but Skolimowsky is so unknown, I fear they would struggle to shift any copies beyond blind buys.
