Don't forget Amazon's video service as an option as well.

I used to use Comcast for my Cable & Internet needs. But I got tired of paying $200/mo. for service. So I dropped the cable & kept the internet. Now, I pay $35/mo. for 40MB service. I use Hulu, Netflix, Amazon & my laptop to watch shows.

Directv will be gone soon and I will either be streaming or going off an antenna for television watching. Looking forward to saving the $100 plus a month that I'm currently paying.

Oh I do bum off my family's Netflix account just recently.

Scoured my DVR once and saw only like 7 channels worth recording, knew it was time to let go.

I'm looking forward to it as well. A little concerned about college football in the fall but I will deal with it to save over $1200 a year. Wife not a big TV watcher and just about everything the kids watch can be found on NetFlix, Amazon, etc so we are ready.

I do not pick up any television channels by choice. No antenna, no cable service, no satellite. This was a choice that I made several years ago, and I never looked back.

If not for my Blu-ray player, I would not even bother owning a television. It's all about my movie collection.

I have occasionally rented seasons of television shows when I hear great things, but this does not happen often. The last television season that I rented, for instance, was Season One of The Walking Dead.

It's not as easy for everyone. But you really have to go over what type of content you really want to watch. Majority of my shows were travelling shows like No Reservations/Bizarre Foods, Discovery/history, etc. While they were entertaining, it wasn't really anything special or worth my time.(Besides the travel shows). With videogames, blurays, music, internet and going out. There's always other things to do.

Yeah, sports is where most cord-cutters who are into sports will feel the sting. But trust me, once you cut the cord and see the savings, you'll be happy.




I suggest anyone curious if its worth it to cut ties to look over what you record and see for yourself. It was surprising for me. Nothing really great on cable these days besides HBO shows. If you want to wait you can get it on Blu ray.

I will not return to cable until the day they let me pay for what I want to watch. Period. Those CEOs arent going to get rich off me.

If you have NFL Sunday Ticket you get the PS3 streaming free. It is a DirecTV app irregardless if you have it or not so the comment still stands. For home television use (multiple in my case) it is the only television provider with it and has been for years. To stream it, you are still using DirecTV.

I hear ya. I originally had cable because my fiancé wanted it....Now that has ended and my cousin lives with me he tends to be plugged in. I was under the impression that you needed a landline for a home alarm. Now that I see they have wireless options, I'll eventually do away with the tripple play and then eventually do away with cable as a whole. I've used Hulu plus before in the past and its not bad at all.

I got cable because of MY fiancée. As you say, that ended. I like my nerdy Science channel, Breaking Bad and my nightly hour of comedy news, but that's it. Money out the window, out the door, through the cracks, etc. plus, Verizon has continually bungled billing and has been difficult to deal with on every front, even and especially re: cancellation (a long and irritating story). I'll put up with them for Internet since the b*stards have the best service in my area, though.

I enjoy Netflix and get plenty of mileage out of that. Amazon has the benefit of free expedited shipping while Hulu+ has Criterion titles. Not interested in both since at that point I'm paying moe than if I kept cable and I'm trying to cut fat.
