New Call of Duty confirmed for Q4 2013, 'will raise the bar even higher'

New shooter to release amongst "volatility" of "ongoing console transition"

Coming as a surprise to no one, Activision has confirmed plans to release a new Call of Duty game in Q4 2013.

"The Call of Duty franchise continues to set the bar for innovation and we expect a new Call of Duty game in development for 2013 to raise that bar even higher," said the firm during a financials conference call today.

"There is increased volatility this year due to the ongoing console transition, which makes predicting the future more challenging than during normal uses in the cycle. For Call of Duty, consistent with our past practices, we are planning for the main line release in Q4 to be down versus 2012," it added.

Historical trends indicate this year's title is likely to be a new entry in the 'Modern Warfare' line, developed by Infinity Ward. Expect an early November release.

Captain Price Voice Actor Returning For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Bill Murray (not the famous hilarious one we all know and love) has confirmed that he will be returning for work on the next sequel in the highly acclaimed first person shooter series, Modern Warfare.

In a recent, but short interview with ThisisXbox, Bill stated that he would be going back to Activision this upcoming Monday to discuss his next role in the title.

Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4, I’m doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games…

It should come to no surprise that Activision is already preparing for the next installment of Modern Warfare, seeing that they were already planning Modern Warfare 3 during the time the first Black Ops released.

Shocked it's continued from MW3, not shocked it's being made

I expected the first next gen title to be a different setting, but I gues they are playing it safe (shocker!) obviously it's going to be primerily for current gen (huuuuuuuuuge user base) next gen will probably get a poor effort before we get Treyarch coming in with an extra years expereance with next gen and hopefully a better engine.

I wonder if the launch date will change as much as the spawn system did in 3.

after playing 3 i have been disappointed with this game. Not looking forward to Black Ops 2 or MW4. I miss Call of duty 4 MW.

Aw, fer god's sake, just let it die Activision! Are we seriously looking at a never ending series of Modern Warfare games, even in the Next Gen of consoles? The Joke about Call Of Duty 14: Moderer Warfare 7: Lasers Are Bad seems to be coming true!

At some point (i.e read next Gen) this franchise WILL re-boot. I'm still hoping for a World War 1 CoD game, and i gest not. Set it in late 1917 with the tank warfare...

IW tweeted yesterday that the news about the voice actor is fake... No doubt there will be another MW though.

NowGamer reports that Sledgehammer Games, who recently worked on last year’s Modern Warfare 3, has posted a job listing on Gamasutra for Senior Environment Artist to work on the next Call of Duty title for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The descriptor reads, ”We are actively recruiting top talent for our Call of Duty development team. If you are passionate and driven to do your best work, and have a desire to work on the most successful FPS franchise in the history of video games, please apply online.”

Additionally, those applying “will be expected to create single player and multi-player levels under the direction of the art director and the creative director,” and “will insure that the level works on all relevant platforms, Xbox 360, PS3.”

Roll on next year.

You miss the real team behind MW who all left after MW2 to start respawn. Everything after that moment for COD has been nothing but other developers reusing and repeating things.

They continue to try new things and it's nothing but fail if rather have paid 100 each for 3 copies of mw1 than blops1 mw3 n blops2

Probably will not either... Game was made for that system. PS3 players got a crappy port downgraded port. Sad thing is that this is the same thing that happened with Black Ops 1. I guess some people are gluttons for punishment and never learn their lessons.

I can not speak about MW3. I have never touched it.
