Amazon.de sells many movies that are rated FSK18 and ships them overseas. I thought this was not allowed and that's why John Rambo was pulled. Can any German member shed some insight here.

John Rambo was a completely different deal. That one was not rated "18" it was rated "Not extremely dangerous for young people". That means that they circumvented the FSK group and also took the risk that the movie might end up on the index of forbidden Movies. Which it did. As soon as that happend they could no longer sell it on amazon, because movies that are on the index can not be shown on german websites. Or even stores. If you wanna get hold of a copy of a movie that is on the index in Germany you have to go to a store and ask the guy behind the counter for it. He then hands it to you (After checking your ID) and if you take the law extremely by the letter you wouldn't even be allowed to take the Movie out of the bag they give it to you in the store. Because a kid might see the cover of the movie and then run amok or something.. They are pretty crazy when it comes to "protecting" the youth.. Most germans, when a movie ends up on the index simply order it from austria. Over here we don't care that much about such stuff. I mean we care about Youth Protection. Like, I work at a electronic retailer and for demo purposes (I work in the HI-FI Dept. and we have a lot of Home theatres connected to a TV to show them off) we can only use movies up to FSK 12. Otherwise we might get sued. In Germany there are often 3 versions out of a movie. Like Rambo. There was FSK 16 which was severly cut, FSK 18 still cut and the the uncut Version which was not rated at all.. .. Now since that one landed on the index they can't advertise it or even mention it in magazines or online sites or such. In Austria there are a lot of companys that even put an "INDEXED" on the price tag of the movie so that people know that they are buying the good stuff! I hope I sorted that out somewhat for you? |

Sorry for bumping this thread but I just attempted to order a blu-ray off Amazon.de that was rated FSK 18. When I did I got a message saying they can't ship the movie to me (I live in Canada). Did they change the rules about shipping them overseas?
