Reels "Barrabbas" 2-Night broadcast on March 25 & 26 - Blu-ray Forum

"We have the first look at Reelz' next mini-series, and it's clear that it will take viewers on a journey of Biblical proportions. The first teaser trailer for Barabbas has just been released, giving viewers a taste of the upcoming epic drama. Shot on location in Tunisia and starring Billy Zane, Barabbas tells the story of the man whose life was spared by the decision to crucify Jesus Christ. The sweeping epic will pick up where the Bible left off, following Barabbas in a powerful story of faith and redemption. Based on the 1950 Nobel Prize-winning novel by Pär Lagerkvist, Barabbas will premiere on Reelz in Spring 2013."

Well, for most of the book and Anthony Quinn movie, he doesn't--It's just an allegorical character study of this lower-class criminal lout who spends most of his life with folks saying "You should be more grateful, you know!" at him, but pretty much spends the rest of his life with no ambitions wandering in and out of prison, and only starts to figure it out before meeting a bad end.

It was allegory in the book, and worked in the movie, but it wasn't much of a story, and when cable miniseries use the Z-word, I have a feeling they're going to try and "cure" that problem.
