Default No Disney Steelbooks In 2013 ?

Where are all the Steelbook,Ironpack,Viva's for all the Disney releases? There have been a large string of Classic Disney films released recently and coming up but no word on any more Steelbooks. The last one as of this post was Finding Nemo. I know Viva's got shut down in the U.S. for copyrights but why no other releases. Here's a list of notable ones not given any type of Metal Case

Peter Pan
Pocahontas
Rescuers
Mulan
Aristocats
Wreck-It Ralph
The Great Mouse Detective
Lady and The Tramp
Home On A Range
Treasure Planet
Frankinweenie
Brother Bear
Hunchback of Note Dame

I know not all of those are considered "Classics" But most of them are. Plus if Cars 2 can get a Viva Metalbox, then come on Peter Pan deserves something.
Is there any news that any of these films will be released on Steelbook, Ironpack, or Viva From in any region?

Those ironbooks that BB use to give out when you reserved a movie from them are no longer being made due to Steelbook suing the company who made them (and winning) if I remember correctly.

I don't think there's really a market for Disney SteelBooks in the U.S.

The Viva MetalPacks were a nice bonus for pre-ordering films through Best Buy, but since the company's gone belly up, we'll just have to deal with what we're given.

Napes on that. I think there is a huge market for Disney steelbooks in the US.

Yup. At the beginning of the year:

Quote:
The Court permanently RESTRAINS AND ENJOINS Defendants Viva Magnetics Ltd. (Hong Kong), Viva USA, Inc., Viva Media Packaging (Canada) Ltd., Viva Metal Packaging Ltd. and Viva Media Packaging Ltd. (collectively, “Viva defendants”), their duly authorized agents, servants, employees, and all others in active concert or participation with the Viva defendants from (a) infringing the following United States patents of plaintiff Glud & Marstrand A/S (“G&M”): 7,051,872; 7,232,032; 7,350,642; and D562,049, and (b) making, using, offering to sell, selling and/or importing (i) the Viva Metal Box for Blu-Ray and DVD products accused of infringement in this action, and/or (ii) the Digital Versatile Disk (DVD) case accused of infringement in the 2005 action between G&M and some of the Viva defendant

multiples flaws in his response, so I wouldnt even give it a response. I dont know why Disney doesnt use SteelBook, maybe something happened with the previous release in 2009. I would not rule anything out.

I'd guess they opted for other metal cases because it was cheaper to do so. Now without any other choices to go to, we'll see if Disney goes back to using Steelbooks again in the US.

Also, since Best Buy was basically giving away metal cases for free (you could keep the case if you canceled your pre-order after release date), I would imagine that someone in corporate finally wised up and put an end to the money-losing practice.

not that at all, you provided the link as to why no metal box, but he asked about steelbooks, They do still manufacture those. and no one has an answer as to why they stopped dealing with Scanavo. The 2009 releases included discs except Up and Snow White in USA.

I completly agree, as a matter of fact U.S. is probably the biggest market for them.

Correct. One only has to look at the prices Disney Steel Cases (all variations) go for on eBay, amazon marketplace etc. Demand + unavailability = high prices!

Incidentally there are some recent/future Disney SteelBook releases here in Europe, Finding Nemo zavvi.exclusive springs to mind.

There is definitely a large market for collectible Disney cases in the US. I know I have purchased several Disney titles solely on the fact that the movie came with a collectible case, titles I normally would not have purchased otherwise.

Along as Target keeps dealing out the Digibooks I could deal with that, but as far as I know they have only released 4...Cinderella, Peter Pan, Brave and Wings or whatever it is called.

I love the Target Digibooks too but Disney Steelbooks and Ironpacks are just special among all Blu Rays

I already mentioned that in the 1st post. That was the last one released but there haven't been any others for the ones listed above or any future Disney films coming out.
