Default Is this an Iron Man Steelbook Scam

I was looking on eBay at some of the Iron Man Steelbook Blu Ray discs, and someone has an opened German blu ray Steelbook for sale. What's to stop someone from buying the FYE DVD Steelbook case for around $20 to $30 and buying the German blu ray 2 disc combo and putting those discs in the FYE case - and viola - you have an open German import of the Iron Man blu ray Steelbook?

Well, unless the German BD steelbook was G1 I think that would be the biggest tipoff.

Is it the case for the DVDs larger than the case for the Blu-rays?

I'm looking on eBay right now. It doesn't look like the size of the German Steelbook is different than the FYE Steelbook. I could be wrong. Does anyone have a German Steelbook?

The reason that I want to buy an unsealed copy is because I plan on opening it. I'd want to watch it. Why pay the sealed price if it's going to be opened anyway?

You are going to pay $229 for an open G1? You can make this yourself (just like you said) - if it's open you can't know if it was actually the German one. This one has NO inside artwork. Seems like a risky move with NO real benefit.

Normaly the DVD Steelbooks are larger than BD Steelbooks. German Steelbooks have the size about of the normal BD Case. Also AFAIK there is also a small "BD" Logo on the spine.
So:
It would be a real scam. With false adversiting it may end in eBay ban.

I dont understand the question really. I thought the German Version vas a G1 and a DVD release? My Guess is the seller just put the BD film inside, and if you read the auction headline that is what i get out of it.

Anyway, this is one of mine displays, and you can see both the German G2 and the DVD(G1) Version of it.

Is this the scam the OP is referring to? It seems obvious that he just put the blu-ray in the DVD case. Look how the blu-ray insert is too small for the case!

What a loser, and I hope nobody bids...

He is lying and twisting his words:

Iron Man (2-Disc Blu-ray STEELBOOK Version)- Discs are in Near Mint Condition. The Case does have some scratches on the left side of the back cover. I did take some pictures of them. This case is Standard DVD size, where as Iron Man 2 is Standard Blu-Ray sized.

He clearly states Blu-Ray steelbook version, but at the end, he says Standard-DVD size case. So he is saying 2 different things...

I truly hate people like him. He's an idiot with too much time. I will beat his ass if I see him, really can't stand scammers like him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes not a Blu-ray Steelbook. A DVD Steelbook with Blu-ray discs inside. How do you go about reporting auctions like this, is it possible? I'm sure most potential bidders are wise enough to catch on, but i'm sure one or two could be fooled.

You can't. If he has stated it's DVD size but also stated that there are blu rays inside then he's done nothing wrong. Need to get over it unfortunately and hope potential buyers understand what he is doing.
