Highly dubious, since the theatrical release got pushed back to 9 December here. Expect the date to shift, especially if the film starts picking up awards nominations.

I'll definitely be getting this, though will probably wait for it to drop a little in price. I saw in the cinema in September, so no need to be getting it day one.

Saw this in the cinema and it was excellent. Will definitely pick up a triple play or double play.

That won't affect the UK release - the cinema run will have long been over for us and this release falls nicely into the four month window that's the norm now. Besides, if it does pick up awards attention then that'll only do the disc a favour in terms of advertising.

Thanks for the info. However I looked on amazon, hmv and play and I couldn't find it anywhere for pre-order. Still this is a day one purchase for me also.

I know the UK release was 16 September, but if the film starts gaining awards momentum, it may be delayed (in the UK) to release closer to the Academy Awards.

Again, I very much doubt it - they knew from the start it was an awards contender, hell it was being marketed as such in interviews this time last year when it was still filming, so it's not going to throw them off. Besides, if they really are thinking about awards affecting it then releasing it in January means it's on the shelves all the way through the nomination announcements (for every award ceremony, especially the BAFTAs where this will clean up) and then gets an extra boost if it does win.

Although this film was great, I would tell blind-buyers to be wary. This is definitely one of those films that will split opinion. I fell into the trap of reading all the excellent reviews before seeing it, and had me build this film up to be some sort of masterpiece, and although that I accept it was great, it didn't meet my expectations and left me a little disappointed.

Thanks for the tip, definatley will be pre-ordering the Steelbook. Does anyone know if Studiocanal will release it as a Double Play? Just like Optimum used to do at the very end of their time.
