Default How do I prove to people that Blu is better?

I had a lenghty debate here at work about the quality of Blu-ray over standard definition DVD. Most people here seem to agree that there is no difference(at least to justify buying one). I own a PS3 and love watching movies and high definition gaming and readily see the difference in quality from Blu than standard in most movies but I can honestly say not all. Is there a site I can send them to that shows the diffence in picture quality between Blu and standard definition so I can silence the nay-sayers.
I know its possible that no matter what I won't convince them. Just want to get them off my back!!

Ask them if they have ever seen TV in HD and then tell them HDM is like and better than that.

Ditto. I don't even know why Sirk is trying to convince people that HDM is better than DVD. Or did he mean to say HD DVD?

I have a friend who is a great and kind person. But he is ignorant about technology. "Isn't DVD already high definition?" Heck, that is what I thought. Live and learn.

Tell them to go to Best Buy and look at their Blu-ray display in the store, it usually shows a well justified difference between the two. That is what hooked me.

Tell them there is no difference. Tell them HD movies is like a VCR only on a disk. Then tell them that they are more expensive because people like vintage...

The sarcasm should make them feel stupid for asking the question.

ok, what others have said, specifically that it is over twice the pixel ratio of standard DVD

I agree. That w3as what sold me in the first place. I went to BB and I saw the HD DVD set up and the BD set up. I couldnt leave the screen on the Blu side. I bought a player as soon as I had the money at that point. Seeing is believing. Simple as that...

BTW: Welcome to the forums!

As a matter of fact someone brought up that and they did watch it. They said that no DVD looked that bad. I've been dealing with this all day.

Well, then they have to look at the other side of their own selfish minded pseudo perceptions and see that there is also no DVD, nor HD-DVD that looks that great!

Default You've done something wrong cause...

there is a HUGE difference between SD and HD. No comparison. Either format, Big Blu or HD DUD, no comparison.

Tell them to look at a 1080p screen 52" or bigger with blu-ray and then Standard definition of the same movie. If they're not convinced, refer them to the optometrist.

Read this link very carefully and go figure it out and tell you your friends about it.You will know who is better than another.Or already if you have a Blu-ray Player just invite them and do for them some Demo.

1080p is over 2 million pixels, Std is just 307,200.

If one can not tell the diffence, they are in denial or need their eye's checked.
