Default Th0r4z1n3's Movie Viewing Places

Kinda new here, but thought I'd share some pics as I take them.

Finally got around to getting some new shelving for my BDs/DVDs. I did have an old "bookshelf-type" tower that held quite a few movies, but after years of use it was starting to look a bit ratty. I stumbled across the Lerburg DVD shelves from Ikea a few weeks ago (which is actually how I found this site, researching them), finally broke down and ordered some, and they came in today. I got 12 total, which should hold 384 standard DVDs; not quite sure what that will actually add up to for BDs and since I tend to buy various box sets.

Anyway, here's my set up so far

It won't hold all my movies, but it will hold enough to let me have a respectable library displayed in my living room.

They look good. I thought about using those myself but have to many blus to hold them. Decided in my new room to just have the whole movie shelf in a closet in a room just down the hall. I use a movie book I made for people to go through to decide what movie they want to watch. Either that or they go to the closet. You have a good idea going there. Can't wait to see more.

I've got the same problem with DVDs, I just choose to display the ones I really like, and I keep the rest of them stored away. I rip all my movies to the HTPC when I buy them, so I don't really need to have physical access to the discs in order to watch them. I've been a bit slow to jump on the BD bandwagon because the wife & kids don't really know how to take care of discs; which is why I started ripping everything. I just recently got a BD drive for my computer so I'm slowly swapping out the DVDs for BDs & re-ripping them.

Hopefully I'll get some more pics up soon, not a whole lot to show at the moment though, just a 60" plasma, HTPC, BD player, and surround sound. I'm toying with the idea of doing an actual theater room in the attic, but I've got to find the time to go up there and measure everything to make sure I can go big enough with the screen to justify it. If I have to go smaller than 100" with the projector screen I don't know if it would be worth spending the money on considering it wouldn't be that much bigger than what we have in the living room...we'll see though, my daughter loves the idea.
