Default Urban Legend

I couldn't find a thread on this movie and it was released years ago, how rare.... Anyways, does anyone else think this movie is underrated? IMO, this is one of the best horror movies from the 90's! The atmosphere is great and the fact that this takes place on a college campus with those old-looking buildings makes it a really eerie setting for a horror movie. Yeah, its got its cheesyness, but what horror movie doesnt?? This movie has good characters too! I'm too old to be a "college kid" but this movie seems like it would be a hit among younger people, but I still find it very enjoyable. The cast has some big names in it like Jared Leto, Rebecca Gayheart, Tara reid, Brad Dourif, and the guy who plays Freddy Krueger. THIS MOVIE IS UNDERRATED.... what do you guys think?

EDIT: I think I found a thread on this movie.... Mods you can merge them!

Definitely better than the I Know What Did Last Summer series and a lot of fun. I'd probably grab the sequels if they got a cheap double feature release (no way is Bloody Mary worth buying solo ever again, but I do dig Final Cut).
Looks like this has quietly gone OOP. Wal-Mart seems to actually have it for $17.99 online (I had it in cart without anything saying not in stock, did not go to check-out), but no one else does and used prices on amazon are $15+. Get it soon if you missed it, it's a huge upgrade over the dvd. I bet copies are sitting in used stores for $8 or less all over the US.

Thanks for the heads up; just ordered a copy from an Amazon seller for $13. Never saw this, but the trailer looks fun.

I enjoyed it when I saw it in the theater. I bought it on DVD and upgraded to BD. The Blu-ray looks pretty good. I got mine a couple years ago...used and cheap from GoHastings IIRC. Looks like they don't have any copies right now.

I think it sort of got a bit lost in the crowd of other "teen horror" movies that were coming out after the Scream craze started. It was a fun movie with quite a number of familiar faces and/or up and comers. The director also had another film a few years later that IMO, is better than it's IMDB rating, Valentine. I prefer Urban Legend. But Valentine was a decent slasher also.

I just picked this up on eBay a week or so ago for $7 shipped. I remember liking it when it first came out and it has a pretty good cast. I get nervous anytime something is possibly OOP and I regret passing on forever

Well Damn it.... This is a title that I'd expect to find in a $5 or $7 dump bin and shouldn't be out of print... I'm more then annoyed that it's out of print as now I have to go track this thing down before prices go completely nuts, when I'd much rather put my money towards any other number of titles. I remember watching it in Theaters when it came out and found it somewhat enjoyable. It's been on my radar for years but I just haven't wanted to drop any cash on it,hoping I'd find it for cheap... so much for that idea.

Wrong movie. There is only one R-rated cut for this. I think you might be mixing it up with Soul Survivors, which has a "killer cut", or the Friday the 14th remake has a "killer cut" also.

To add confusion, the sequel is called Final Cut, which of course was a lie as a second sequel followed.

Oops, yeah, Soul Survivors....
Thanks...

That said, I need to find this movie, Urban Legend.
I was talking about it with someone recently and now I want to watch it again.

You should be able to buy it on ebay, or stream it.

I don't like to stream movies either, so I do agree with you 100 %. I was just giving another availability option to Gold Ranger, who wants to see it.

Found urban legend at a smaller local store for $15.99 brand new. Figured I might as well grab it before it gets stupidly priced!

I thought this was just alright. It was fun for what it was, but I doubt I'll revisit it. Streaming might be the way to go for this one if you just want to see it.

If prices got out of control (like typical OOP movies) I wouldn't have paid a premium for this one. Figured it was just a nice to have as a collector at a $15 price point while I still can. Thanks to the posted who mentioned the UK version but for some reason I can't stand the ratings and restrictions on the front cover from those regions. Must be an OCD thing.
