Arrow 'The Lords of Salem' (Rob Zombie Directs)

'The Lords of Salem'

Quote:
Rob Zombie‘s new film The Lords of Salem, was recently given an official announcement, and shooting should get underway on the picture in mid-April, after the director has a chance to finish up his latest concert tour and really dig into pre-production duties.

After one recent concert appearance he was thrown a few questions about The Lords of Salem, and his answers offer up a lot of new info about the film.
Empire talked to Rob Zombie, who said this is an idea he hatched some time ago:

Like a lot of my ideas, I had this one a long time ago… but it was never the right time to make it. Eventually it spun off into a song but there were still no plans to turn it into a movie until the Paranormal Activity guys [Oren Peli, Steven Schneider and Jason Blum] approached me and wanted to do something. I didn’t have any specific plans, but I mentioned Lords of Salem and they really latched onto it.

But what is the film actually about? It begins with a prologue set in 1692 before jumping to the modern aspects of the story.

There were twenty people that everyone knows about – obviously all innocent – executed as witches in Salem. The basic premise of the film is that there were a further four who actually were witches, who were killed secretly, and vowed one day to return to wreak havoc on Salem’s descendants. That’s when the movie jumps ahead to the present day and things start to go wrong…

He also says this may be the ‘bleakest’ of all the films he has made, which actually makes me fear the film a bit. That’s a good thing. The Halloween films were bleak, but not in the same distressing manner as The Devil’s Rejects. While ‘bleak’ isn’t necessarily a lofty goal for a filmmaker, it certainly seems to be Rob Zombie’s most comfortable mode. Besides, I’m hoping for a film that can be used as a positive touchstone when discussing his film work, so that we can give The Devil’s Rejects a break for a minute.

That pic in the 2nd post is from House of 1,000 Corpses. He hasn't started to announce casting yet, so there is no set. Casting will be announced soon.

We only know Sheri Moon Zombie will star in it. Nothing new here, I think it's cool. I really like her. I have the strange feeling that we'll see Cassandra Peterson as Elvira in this movie. Zombie is good friends with her and she used to play a witch in Mistress of the Dark. Would be a cool cameo.

It amazes me this guy has a career. Rob Zombies movies are unwatchable. The characters are horrible cliques incapable of anything other then mindless profanities. He basically ruined the character of Mike Myers forever by completely ruining his origins.

I see this all the time and never know why.

It's called a remake. Your prob used to seeing "remakes" that are shot for shot the same movie. His Halloweens actually have nothing to do or wants anything to do with copying the original material (would be a waste of time to shot for shot remake something, which most things are). Now we have 2 different stories, nothing "ruined" the origins of the original. If you like the original, like the original. If anything, the sequels of the original "ruined" the story. Zombie's films has nothing to do with the original series of 8.

I hate every movie this person has created. He is by far the worst actor...ever. I will never forget watching The Devil's Rejects. It was like my worst horror being displayed in front of me. I actually felt like bashing my head outside on the pavement just to get the movie out of my head.

I assume you mean Worst DIRECTOR, as he doesn't Act in his films.

"Halloween" was a pretty radical departure & I enjoyed it. Following ROB ZOMBIE on Twitter you can find out Most info for this film (& other info on him obviously) beforehand anyway (casting, musical composer, etc). Plus, he's from my hometown (Worcester, Mass.), so there's that too...

Exactly...nothing was "ruined" by it....if you dont like it, the original is still there for you to watch... i personally LIKE the origins story

Hardly! The Devils Rejects was a great movie, House of 1000 corpses was entertaining, I thought the Halloween remake was a decent reimagining of the story, and Halloweem 2 was an ambitious misfire at worst (I personally enjoy that one as well....)
