Another site crash casualty thread, re-created here:
![]() The Incredible Mr. Limpet will be arriving on blu-ray on August 7, 2012. This 1964 Don Knotts comedy mixes live action with animation in a tale of a man who turns into a talking fish. I saw this as a child when it showed on network TV one afternoon while I was on summer break. Loved it! Supposedly there is a remake in the works to be directed by Richard Linklater. Now we need the remaining Don Knotts comedies on blu-ray, like The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, The Reluctant Astronaut, How to Frame a Figg, The Shakiest Gun in the West, and the great classics with Tim Conway. I used to love this when I was a kid, and I don't think I've seen it since VHS, so this is great news.
I still remember when we bought that VHS tape, because we bought it out of town and when I opened it at home the cassette was just shattered inside. It was too far to take it back, but my dad was pretty clever and managed to find another tape we could sacrifice and took the tape rolls for Mr. Limpet and installed them in the other tape casing, and that's the version I watched over and over again. ![]() |

I just saw this on DVD when my sister bought a copy for our mother, and I didn't remember a lot of it. Limpet's wife comes off as a real pain in the neck, and I'd completely forgotten about the military being involved. It'd probably been over fifteen years since I'd last seen it, but I wouldn't want to own it.

I met Don Knotts once. I was terribly star struck, but my friend who was with me asked him why he left Andy Griffith Show when everything was working so well. Don said everyone around him was telling him he could be a star, so he left to do the movies. But in retrospect, he saw the value in the ensemble around him on Andy Griffith.
