Has anyone else noticed an audio sync problem with Goodfellas? I watched it recently and my copy is slightly out of sync maybe by half a second to a second. It's most noticeable in dialogue scenes where there's a close-up of the actor's face eg. when De Niro congratulates Henry in the courtroom near the begining or for instance at the wedding scene when they smash a glass wrapped in a tissue.

Anyone? I doubt a sync issue would be caused by a faulty disc, it would have to have been caused in the authoring. Suffice to say, I've not found any sync issues on other discs.

I have a Sony S590 and it played absolutely fine, but my copy is the newer release with UltraViolet, maybe that's why. I presumed the newer discs were just repackaging, like Warner does all the time.

With lip synch some BD players and amplifiers are much less tolerant to the issue than others. I would not expect Warner to have remastered the disk as it is still the same DD5.1 audio not lossless. Given its classic status this really needs a remastered effort by Warner. Even the US anniversary digibook only adds a bonus DVD of extras not directly linked to the film. It is still the same old BD disk from the early days of the format.

Ps3 and a Sony BD player. The sync issue is only sleight, I've seen worse but didn't expect it on a Warners blu-ray. Fwiw the disc is one that came in the De Niro collection boxset. While it's the same audio as the DVD I would imagine this issue appeared when authoring a new disc as the image and audio would be separate elements.

I tried it without surround just played It through tv speakers and it was still there. At least two scenes for a second or so but noticeable. Even more so on projector screen lol.
It's the only disc out of hundreds that does this. For reference, it's somewhere near the 'shoe shine' insult scene. Will need to check later exactly where. Last edited by Steedeel; 02-05-2014 at 11:06 AM. |

When playing this on my Oppo BDP105 - it is horrendous for sync. The thing annoyed me so much - I stopped it after 20 mins. Guess it's time to look for a better copy. VP |
