Do they hold any value whatsoever? Most don't even come with special features and is the seasons go on, do you really go back and watch season 1 or anything past what you are at?

Depends on the show tbh.
Also depends on your viewing habits. For example, we don't particularly like the waiting between weeks to see the next episodes, so we 'binge' - best way of doing that really is just to buy the boxset at the end of the season. If it's a show we particularly like then we'll keep it, if not, we'll sell it on. The problem that a lot of TV shows now have on BD is that people have wisened up to how shows are released - look at something like True Blood for example - you have a season 1 set, then you have a seasons 1&2 set, then seasons 1-3 etc etc, so I guess a lot of people, if they really liked the show, will just wait until the shows over and then get the 'complete' series collection. From memory, the ones that we're keeping up to date with are The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Game of Thrones and Doctor who, that's probably it. |

I tend to buy them because I don't subscribe to HBO. My titles include:
Band of Brothers Deadwood Game of Thrones 1 + 2 Generation Kill John Adams The Pacific Planet Earth + Life Rome 1 + 2 The World at War I will get Star Trek TOS eventually and Star Trek TNG, Andy Griffith and I Love Lucy after all seasons come out and I can get something better than shrink wrap around individual seasons. I would get Sopranos, The Wire, etc. if released on blu. Very reluctant to buy anything on DVD these days. Last edited by (W)KRP; 01-27-2014 at 04:59 AM. |

Blu-ray is how I do the majority of my TV watching. They provide the best picture and audio quality and I can watch them a season at a time instead of waiting a week between episodes.
If it's a show I plan to rewatch (which I often do) then I keep it, if not I just sell the set after I watch it (usually for around what I paid). If you're willing to pay extra for better picture and audio quality on movies, then why not on TV shows? |
