United Kingdom Where do you go for blu ray?

At the moment I buy all mine from amazon. They seem to be the only reasonably priced store, I've not found anywhere that offered the same prices.

However, if find their range is limited. I wouldn't mind getting some different titles than they have on offer.

Who do you think offers the best range of titles regardless of the price?

I echo Clacton's response. If you're ok with pre owned titles, then you can't go wrong with CEX. Base do new and pre owned items and they have similar prices to CEX.

The only problem with CEX is that the specialised brands like Eureka/Masters Of Cinema, Arrow and, sometimes, BFI blu rays can be as much or even more than the retail prices. Their prices go up and down, depends on how much they have in stock in really. Most big studio blu rays are very cheap, though.

Another place worth looking at is Thatsentertainment.co.uk. They don't have much stock but they are decent priced.

Another problem with CEX is they won't post internationally and I'm in Japan. But as I said in another thread blu rays are VERY expensive here, for example, one title "my neighbour totoro" which is a Japanese anime film costs 5000yen and I can get it online at Amazon and have it shipped here for 2500 yen.

I also want the digital codes that come with the discs, for trade. Two movies for the price of one.

I just meet my contact in some back alley in the middle of the night. I give him a sandwich, or a box of chocolates, or a bag full of live kittens, and he gives me a bundle of Blu-Rays. No questions asked.

Tesco Direct get my vote, for the big releases they are normally the same price as Amazon but they dispatch early so you usually receive the Saturday before release whereas normally Amazon won't even start processing your pre-order until the Sat/Sun and you will be lucky to have it before Tuesday.

I have a question about CEX that if I order 3 movies. Will they send it in one shipment or all in separate shipments? I mean I have a UK and US reshipping address but I want all the movies bundled together so I can get it under one shipping price or else I ll have to pay three shipments price.

It might be one package, it might be three. I think they get the stock from their stores, so it depends what each store has in stock. I have ordered as many as twenty at one time before and I have received multiple packages. Some contained four or five Blu-rays, others just one or two.

Yeah, pretty much this. I don't mind if they do that. Makes life easier in some ways and ensures that the package gets through the letterbox if done separately.

When I do buy Blu-rays...

Online - Amazon
In-Store - HMV

I bought so many Blu-rays last year...way to many if I'm honest...it really does get out of hand a lot of the time...takes over.

This year, I've decided that I'm going to severely reduce the amount of Blu-rays that I buy, either online or in-store. I've got so many that I haven't even got round to watching yet, it's unreal.

If I'm buying online then its Amazon (UK & US) everytime.

In-store I use ASDA or Tesco, very rarely HMV.

Amazon (UK, US, Canada, France, Germany) and Zavvi are my usual two.

Play, Base, CEX, YesAsia too to a lesser degree.

My experience with CeX online orders has been positive. According to my account I have had 4 online orders, including;
the 360 HD-DVD drive, 7 DVD sets, 6 blu-rays and 3 HD-DVDs (total of 22 discs).
All discs in good shape, all cases from good to mint condition apart from one DVD set (a CSI digistack) had a crack in the plastic of one of the trays (which I sured up with some tape) and they were all delivered relatively quick.

There will always be a risk with used stock, and/or human error in sending out something that is incorrect or not fit for sale. But you have the option to pay via Paypal, so worst case scenario you could file a claim there.

_____________

As for online stores where I get blu-rays, they include;

all your music (amazon marketplace, play.com, ebay)
Amazon.co.uk
Amazon.com
Amazon.de
base.com
direct.asda.com/
ebay.co.uk
ebay.com
grooves-inc.co.uk and/or grooves-inc.com
hive.co.uk
mg_and_m (ebay) aka mgandm (play.com) - they sell mostly South African blu-rays
play.com (essentially just like amazon marketplace now)
sainsburysentertainment.co.uk (until they go digital only at end of Feb)
tesco.com/direct/
thehut.com
uk.webuy.com (CeX)
zavvi.com
zoverstocks (amazon marketplace, play.com)
