The Sopranos: The Complete Series Blu-ray

It's finally happening. This November.

All six seasons of the James Gandolfini drama will be released in a collectible boxed set on Nov. 4 for a suggested retail price of $279.98. All 86 episodes of the Emmy, Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winning series will come on 28 Blu-ray discs in an elegant box featuring artwork from the series.

Included in the set is a free digital HD copy of every episode and more than five hours of bonus material including lost scenes, two roundtable dinners with the cast and crew, 25 audio commentaries as well as a new and exclusive featurette exploring how The Sopranos was created and ultimately transformed the TV landscape.

Whoa, I've never watched the show, but many friends recommended it to me, and I was going to get the DVD boxset at some point, so I'm excited that I'll get to experience it on HD

I've seen the few random episodes here and there, but I've long been waiting for a Complete Series BD release to watch the show. This is a bit of a surprise as I figured this wasn't gonna happen. Looks like it's getting a blind buy!

And for those who haven't seen much of the show, if you have Amazon Prime, you can stream the entire series in HD as part of Amazon's deal with HBO.

This is one of the few shows that's worth a blind buy on the complete set though.

The planet that prices HBO shows. That's less than $50 a season, when in the past they were breaking up seasons into "part 1" and "part 2" and pricing each part at $50 or more (usually more).

It's not a cheap amount for someone to pay, but for a starting MSRP it isn't bad. Of course I never pay MSRP for stuff like this, so for me i'll think about it when it hits $99.

edit: reasonable starting MSRP just means this will be more obtainable, more quickly.

Starting MSRP just means this will be obtainable more quickly.

MSRP of individual HBO seasons is usually something crazy like $70 or $80 by my recollection so I'd say we've got a good starting point for MSRP here.

Complete sets like Breaking Bad and Dexter had MSRP of nearly $400 and they were sold for closer to $200 on release day. So having an MSRP of $280 should mean that we might even get this set for under $200, hopefully even $150.

This one. It's 6 seasons of an HBO show. They don't come cheap. Compare it to the MSRP's of Game of Thrones seasons, an it works out much cheaper. The actual price paid will obviously not be $280, so I'd say that's a decent starting point.

Considering that the SRP on most HBO drama season sets are $59.98-$79.98 each, a SRP that breaks down to $46.67 per season (or $40 per season if you break season 6 into two) isn't bad at all.

It bodes well for a decent release week price for a complete series set from HBO.
