Italy Once Upon a Time in the West?

It's a real pity this hasn't got released yet. But it seems that Mondo Home, which got the rights for the Dollar-trilogy (minus the first one), has the rights for it since they've released it on DVD back in the days.

Maybe we will see a beautiful restoration of this fine flick

Unfortunately, the only thing I have heard about it (on the Italian front) was that nothing was happening with it.

I have heard Paramount is working on it, but nothing concrete.

If Paramount will do a Sapphire Edition of the movie (a good one, not like Gladiator ) then it will get a nice treatment Let's hope it will be released soon.

Paramount recently issued a new dvd of this, so that could be a good sign for a bd release in the near future.
I sure hope so!

Hey !

At last the title has been announced by Paramount for June 2011 !!
You can find this information through an interview made by the French magazine "Les Années Laser" (March 2011, p.18) with the director of marketing from Paramount France.
The article also mentions the release of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" for September 2011.

Sorry I did not post this in the French section, but my account does not allow me to create a new thread...

Announced for December 4. Could be easily superior to the Paramount edition (new master?).

Kinda doubt it would be superior in terms of AQ/PQ because Paramount's release was stellar. The only way it might be superior would be new bonuses or if it contained the Italian extended cut of the movie which, I'm told, has never been released outside of Italy. I'm also told that the Italian cut doesn't offer much in terms of new footage so unless there's a major reason to do so, I'm not likely to get this version as I'm highly pleased with Paramount's release.

I own the Paramount one and it's stellar indeed. Anyhow, running times aside, Paramount created the HD master using the elements in their hands. Mondo could have access to a different, "more reliable" source. That already happened with the two oaters and "Once upon a Time in America" (even though Warner was responsible for the latter). This is, quite obviously, speculation but I wouldn't be surprised.

To what are you referring with Once Upon A Time In America? I thought WB released the movie with the same transfer worldwide.
