Ride Along will take it, I don't think Eckhart is marketable enough to knock off a massive comedy hit.

I think it'll belong to 'Ride Along'. 'I, Frankenstein' looks like mindless entertainment, but it's not going to do well, even with, "From the Producers of 'Underworld'" slapped on it.

Well it is Thursday and this is one of the slowest box office weekends of the year so that's not too surprising.

Ride Along is my bet for #1 too. Going to see it tonight since I missed it last weekend.

I'll likely see I, Frankenstein at some point over the next few days too. Doesn't look that great, but there's not a lot of new stuff to choose from.

Yeah, nothing very interesting as far as new releases with large box office potential.

Friday Update #2: Sources now say that I, Frankenstein could do as little as $3 million on Friday. That figure would put the film on pace for a weekend around $8.5-9 million.

Hilarious two cheap to make movies are at the top of the box office yet again and another 3D (95% of its screens are on 3D screens) expensive crapfest bombs..
Devils due dropped 70% at least this weekend btw.

The first two $100 million plus grossing wide released films of the year will both be Universal releases.
I think Monuments men will do rather good in a few weeks though.

LionsGate is off to a bad start with Legend Of Hercules and I, Frankenstein. Paramount is too with Jack Ryan and The Marked Ones.

The Marked Ones did good. Obviously not as good as the other entries but its made way more than its $5M budget.

Well the do have the slight advantage that at least Legend of Hercules was acquired, and in total will cost about $25-$35 million mainly due to marketing. They'll make up for the dent of I, Frankenstein in the fall when the next Hunger Games movie open. Plus, there has to be some cheap Tyler Perry movie I the next couple of months as well.

Lionsgate really really really needs to stay away from anything 3D.
Have they ever had a 3D movie not bomb?

Was Chainsaw 3D fron Lionsgate? While it plummeted the second week, it did serious bank the first and I imagine they consider it a success of sorts. The 3D was actually decent in that one as well...at least a few of the gore shots.
