Default Hitchcock's Downhill (Declive)

This should be out soon in Spain. Anyone have this or have it on order like me?

I'm very interested in this too. Please post a few words about the quality when you recieve it. I'm wondering if it has only Spanish title cards or forced subs on the English title cards. I'm also curious if this is part of the restorations on Hitch's early films like THE LODGER which I imported from the UK...and looks fabulous!

There's an updated photo here:

http://www.amazon.es/Downhill-Blu-ra...A1AT7YVPFBWXBL

It shows the restored correct running time, plus the fact that it's tinted and mentions the 2012 restoration means it's a good purchase. Inter-titles are English with optional Spanish subtitles.

Still hoping that all nine newly restored silent Hitchcock films (including this) get released in a box set.

Same here. Unless more of them get released internationally I will hold off importing hoping that there will be a box set released in the states.

that review makes it sound like the source was not a restored film.
I know all many of the silents did/are receiving a restoration through bfi I believe, so I would think one would want to wait for a better version to come out. I think many people felt like this bd would be based on one of the restorations, but that sadly doesn't seem to be the case.
anybody know anything different?

This clearly indicates that it's from the BFI restoration.

As does the full length, and the quality apparent in the screenshots.

And the fact that the back cover mentions the restoration.

The only reason some might not want to indulge in this BD is because of the single-layered disc "with a modest bitrate". Otherwise, it is the BFI restoration, and subtitles are not forced for the main feature.

The only reason I haven't jumped on this release already is that I'm thinking there will likely be a Stateside release forthcoming...possibly even a box set with the other BFI restorations. In which case, I'd feel like a sucker if I'd already imported.

I received my copy today and am pleased with the look. I too would love to find a box set of all the BFI restorations, but so far no luck - I'll take what I can get! Hopefully, the Spanish will release the rest of these as well.

But you would be doing all of the rest of us a favor because you know as soon as you buy this one they will announce and release a set in the US.

haha True. People already owe me so much on that score, they don't even realize. The Casablanca remaster (announced some six days after I bought the original BD release) probably being the most prestigious example. But for genre-lovers, I also ushered in the Friday the 13th box set (by finally breaking down and buying the individual releases of the first three films), an individual release of the original live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie (after buying the Triple Feature collection, despite hating the sequels), and Criterion's announcement that they would be releasing Eraserhead (which has not yet been forthcoming, but the announcement came pretty quickly after I imported the German disc).

Warner Brothers, in particular, seem to have it in for me (almost forgot to mention the whole debacle with The Town). haha But I'm not putting anything past anyone at this point. There is most definitely a conspiracy to make me double-dip on as many titles as possible.

I am very interested in this blu ray. I have a compete collection of Hitchcock films, since I consider him to be the greatest director. I watch his films over and over and still enjoy them, usually one every Sunday night. I've seen "Downhill" on DVD a couple of times and it has the Master's touch. I'll probably order it from Amazon Spain.
