Default Nokia Lumia vs iPhone

Is it worth getting the Nokia Lumia 520 or should I wait for the new iPhone 5c? My budget is only 200$. Is nokia's touchscreen as good as apple's? What about the operating system? How does windows compare to its and android?

I'm planning on upgrade to a 5s this year.
Currently I own an iPhone 4s and honestly the MAC OS is becoming somewhat of an eyesore but I've never had any significant problems with my iphones (I've owned 2 for 4 years) so they would be what I consider 'reliable'.

I'm not too jazzed about any of the upgrades but a better camera (12mp) is always a plus. Nokia Lumia 92 may seem impressive with that monstrous camera but unless you attend printing your photos, I don't see why bother with a phone capable of 40+megapixels.

Now that Apple has taken the wraps off the iPhone 5, it's only natural to compare it to the best of what's out there. We've already seen how it stacks up against previous iPhones as well as the Samsung Galaxy S III, but what if you're not a big fan of Android? That's where the Nokia Lumia 920 comes in.

Nokia unveiled the Lumia 920 last week, and it looks to be the cream of the upcoming Windows Phone 8 crop. We've stacked up the specs for the Lumia 920 side by side against the iPhone 5 in the table below to help determine which phone is right for you.

As you can see, it's a pretty close match. From a design standpoint, the Lumia 920 may be the only smartphone out there to give the beautiful new iPhone 5 a run for its money. Made out of glossy polycarbonate and glass, the Lumia 920's fun colors are a flashy alternative to the black or white iPhone 5. But the iPhone definitely wins for size, at just 4.87 by 2.31 by 0.30 inches (HWD) and 3.95 ounces. The Lumia 920 is downright hefty by comparison, at 5.12 by 2.78 by 0.42 inches (HWD) and 6.52 ounces.

The iPhone 5 features a 4-inch, 1,136-by-640-pixel display—it's the first iPhone with a display larger than 3.5 inches. The Lumia 920, meanwhile, has a 4.5-inch screen, with 1,280-by-768-pixel resolution. At 332 pixels per inch, it's actually a bit denser than Apple's 326 ppi display. Still, that difference will be imperceptible to the naked eye, so it's really a matter of which size display you prefer, and which size feels more comfortable to hold.

The iPhone 5 is powered by Apple's new A6 chip, which it claims is up to twice as fast as the A5 processor found in the iPhone 4S. The Lumia 920, meanwhile, is powered by a 1.5-GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4. We've tested that chip in plenty of other phones, like the Samsung Galaxy S III, and it's super fast.Perhaps the most important point of comparison here should be for the cameras. The iPhone 5 still features an 8-megapixel sensor, but now it's 40 percent faster, with better low-light performance and improved noise reduction. The phone's gyroscope, processor, and camera app also work together to create seamless, high-res panoramas up to 28 megapixels. And the front-facing camera has been given an update to 720p for HD FaceTime Calls.

The Lumia 920 also boasts an impressive camera, with an 8.7-megapixel sensor and Nokia's PureView technology. According to Nokia, the camera can capture 5-10 times the amount of light of any competing smartphone cameras via a "floating lens technology that surpasses the optical image stabilization system of most digital SLRs." There's also a 1.3-megapixel, front-facing camera with 720p HD video capture. It sounds like a winner, but Nokia's credibility has been somewhat tarnished after faking its camera demo at the Lumia 920 press event. Both phones feature support for 4G LTE, as well as 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi on 2.4 and 5GHz bands. The iPhone comes in either 16, 32, or 64GB storage options, while the Lumia 920 only comes in 32GB. The iPhone features Bluetooth 4.0 compared to the Lumia's 3.1. And Apple rates the iPhone 5 at up to eight eight hours of 3G talk time, while Nokia claims the Lumia 920's 2000mAh battery should be good for up to 10 hours of talk time over 3G.On the software side, the iPhone 5 is running Apple's new iOS 6, which will be released on Sept. 19. And the Lumia 920 is running Microsoft forthcoming Windows Phone 8 OS. The iPhone 5 will feature Siri for voice assistance, while the Lumia 920 uses Microsoft's less-heralded TellMe.So which phone should you get? Well, if you want to get a new phone now, I'd say go with the iPhone 5. Even though Nokia took the wraps off the Lumia 920 a full week earlier than Apple unveiled the iPhone 5, the Lumia 920 is still without a price or a release date. And that's likely to be the case until Microsoft releases Windows Phone 8. That's probably going to happen around Oct. 26, when Windows releases its other Windows 8 operating systems. If you can wait, then the bigger question is which OS and app ecosystem you prefer. Apple iOS and Windows Phone are easy to use, but iOS positively trounces Windows Phone in the number and quality of apps available. We'll have full reviews for each phone as soon as they become available, so check back if you need more help in making your decision.Until then, check out PCMag's hands on with the iPhone 5 (slideshow below) and our first look at the Lumia 920

My wife and I started out with a iPhone 3G and made the switch to the S3. Which we've regretted and are considering going back to it. That being said I am intrigued with the Lumia, more importantly the camera. I have a very active 4 year old and love taking his picture, but get a little tired of the camera not being fast enough or giving me a blurry picture. So I'm curious to hear back from actual owners of both phones down the pike.

I have a Lumia 920 and think it's great.

You are going to have fans on all sides so trying to find out what people think on a forum will not give you the best results.

This is crap, that sucks, bla bla bla. - It's pretty silly in my opinion.

It's a smart phone. What do you like to do? What apps do you use? I would try to play around with each one and see what you like better. Go from there.

I have had an iPhone, Android, and Windows phone. They all have their pros and cons but can vary from person to person.

***EDIT - I just saw this thread it two months old. OP probably made a decision by now. LOL***

After 5 years with the iPhone, I finally jumped ship after the last iPhone upgrade. I was getting increasingly pissed off waiting for Apple to give a toss about their users who enjoy taking photos with the iPhone. The camera on the iPhone is eons behind the competition. Last concert I went to, I was front row and I got absolutely dodgy photos from the iPhone.

SO

Did a bit of research and settled on the Nokia 1020 with the 41 megapixel camera. Been enjoying it so far! The photos are magnificent. Granted, it doesn't have all the same apps and features but I am making do!
