Default Amazon.com Blu vs HD DVD forum needs our help!!!

I just voted on for the annual Amazon.com specials. And of coures, my votes were PS3, Samsung Blu, 1080p TV, and the HD Camcorder.

I decided to check out the Blu vs HD fourm featrued on Amazon (which is the HOTTEST topic on the site by the way) I was surprised by the IDIOTS posting without any reliable sources in regards to BLU-RAY's pricing, spec comparision, and even sale datas.

Further more, there seems to be a LOT of DuD supporters trying to sway people to the "DIRT" CHEAP (and I do emphasis "DIRT for its double entrndre when refering to DuDs)

So I hope the educated people on this forum can lend a helping hand and provide more insightful knowledges on why Blu is the way to go for HD

Cheers

There is a very large shill/troll community of Hd Dvders on Amazon. It has been that way since last year. Go through some of the Blu-ray reviews and its amazing seeing the same people trash Blu-ray after Blu-ray. Amazon has shown no willingness to curb this so I guess we have to live with it.

The Toshiba A3 has moved to the #1 spot at Amazon in all of electronics. I can't find any discussion threads there. How do we fight back?

Buy BDs, enjoy them, and show all your friends & family.

My friends and family are part of the problem, not the solution. Hardheadedness runs abound. They're buying into all the buzz on the Toshibas and I fear this is snowballing into making it the "hip" gift this year. Say it ain't so. I feel like I've invested a small fortune into my PS3 and Blu titles and Sony has sat by letting all the momentum slip away. Is there any chance of seeing a $199 player this season?

Ain't family always that way?

I'd suggest you do what you can to convince them the Toshiba's aren't such a great deal...If they're at all technical, you can demonstrate how lack of storage and bandwidth has already hobbled Paramount's 2 biggest blockbuster releases of the year (neither Transformers nor Shrek 3 have lossless or uncompressed audio) before the HDM market has left its infancy. If they're of a more economic bent, point out that Toshiba has virtually eliminated the possibility of any other manufacturer's support by taking the bottom out of the market price. If they're movie fans, show how many more titles they'll be missing on HD-DVD than on BD because of BD's greater studio support.

And if none of those help---family does what family will do anyway. They'll get an upscaling DVD player out of it, you'll have your BDs, and by this time next year you ought to be able to chuckle patronizingly at them over turkey.

Probably not going to be a sub-$200 player offered at that regular price this year, although there will certainly be sales...and there's a chance profile 1.0 players could get marked down before Xmas.

The BDA's momentum still looks fine according to the Nielsens. Don't get too caught up in the online waging of the war---if all those folks dogging BD on Amazon had BD players they'd spend more time watching movies and less time propagandizing. All we can do is buy the movies we want and hope for the best. I certainly understand that money is no small object: I've got two kids and don't really fit any early adopter profile. But for the enjoyment my family has gotten I consider it money well spent.

I sure as hell hope they don't release a $199 on the Blu side. They don't need some cheap ass marketing ploy like To$hiba to get patrons.

LOL. Even though I now review Blu-ray movies, my in-laws still don't really understand what it is. They wish they could still buy VHS.

Tell me about it. If we could convince the "average Joe's" like my brother and my dad the superior technology is worth paying for, this war would have been over a year ago. Problem is, with them and tens of millions like them. Good enough is determined by price, not by specs.

The A3 has a good chance of being the last hd-dvd player they would own though.

Right now, at the point, even if Toshiba wins, they aren't going to be able to turn significant profit on hardware sales or development.

If you want good advice on how to convince friends and family, just show them how much Disney is committed to the Blu format. How much advertising is going forward by Disney. How many of the promotional incentives are being done by Disney. And then prolly show them that BVHE is more than just the Disney label so they don't think it's just pixar ftb.
