Default What type of projector screen should you get?

Once you have decided which is the best projector for you, then you'll need to choose a screen. Or do you?

This sounds like a trick question?

You need a screen... you can build one, paint one or buy one. How much do you plan on spending on the projector? Personally I'd like the expense of your projector guide the expense of your screen. No sense getting a >$1K-2K Stewart Screen if you bought a <$1K projector. Subsequently I wouldn't pair a $5K+ projector with a budget $200 screen.

I have read the professional opinion on this, but I cannot figure out which option is right for my projector.
Would need a lot more detail. Screen size, throw, more specifics about the room (carpet, windows?, etc.), lamp mode, etc.

I know I've made screen decisions based on what HH is eluding to....

And that's the really best practices way to approach the decision (projector, room, lighting conditions, type of viewing, seating etc etc).

One consideration that usually doesn't come up until AFTER the purchase is ease of putting the screen together and mounting.

The only reason I bring this up is because I've had about 8 screens over the years and the one company that's been the easiest to put together and mount was the two Stewart Screens I've owned. They make a Cima series, which is their value line of screens. IMHO, this is the sweet spot for performance and price.

That being said, when I purchased my first AT screen last year, I went with the AV Science produced screen for the value/price is represented vs the Cima version. One noticeable diff. in the AVS screen was the material wrapping the frame has a poor performance in light absorption. It's not a deal breaker, but I tend (now) to really fine tune the sizing vs over scan even by an inch or so.
