Odd Couple Sammo Hung Blu-ray - Blu-ray Forum

In Japan they have re-released a DVD of the Sammo Hung classic Odd Couple but according to reports its a 2 disc set and the second disc is a BR-R disc of the film in true HD, mono Cantonese and with English subs. Looks like Skinny Tiger Fatty Dragon has also been released the same way. Very odd but good news also.

i have skinny tiger. excellent release imo. i can confirm that both discs are reigion free and english friendly. audio is cantonese 5.1 dts-hd with no new foley effects.

at least Odd Couple on the Blu is only DD 2.0 for Cantonese and Japanese.

I have this one and the Skinny Tiger, Fatty Dragon DVD/BD-R. I got them off a seller on Ebay (same price as Amazon.jp). I remember asking him if anymore of these "special edition 2disc sets" were coming out and he said he wasn't aware of any except these two titles.

There is a blu-ray release from this same Japanese company of THE 18 BRONZEMEN, but unfortunately it does not have any English subs/dub listed on the cover.

Why would a Japanese bd-R of Odd Couple have English subs? That's quite incredible!

Odd Couple - sold! WOW! Nice screen shots! Blu-ray in true HD, mono Cantonese with English subs? Too bad the blu-ray is bd-r but at least the dvd is pressed, right? Either way, just ordered this! I can't believe it! Not any news of this at all. I wish that more Japanese companies would take the lead and release true HD with original soundtrack and English subs. If memory serves, I think that I only have the old pan & scan dvd of this. This looks to be a real improvement and maybe I can sell off the old release just to get rid of it when this arrives.

(edit: just realized that this is from Mei Ah Entertainment! No worries! The screen caps look as good as the recent Swordsman II/East is Red box set that they mastered in true HD. maybe Nova Media will get ahold of this and design a better cover/package. not that fond of the artwork but oh well. not going to complain.)

At the bottom center of the page, there is a small rectangular box with a globe icon and the following text:

言語: JP - 日本語 ›

Click on the right arrow and a menu will pop up in a new window with 3 language options: Japanese, English, and simplified Chinese.
